Damn, I was hoping they'd bring back Hitchcock.
Well deserved, now go out there and get a couple more Cups. I understand how hard it is to repeat in this day and age, but keeping this coaching staff together and keeping the team as intact as possible, with the right youngsters ready to plug in when the time comes, there's no reason we can't be competitive and maybe win one or two more with this group.

Now please find an assistant coach whose offensive minded, at least at a minimum as a power play specialist (not named Mike Yeo). Hasn't been one on the staff since Muller left and there wasn't one in all the years under Hitchcock before Muller was here.

Amen. The theme all playoffs was "the Blues need 5 on 5." It got to the point where I was happy if they won the faceoff and got set up, maybe a shot on goal, but let's not get too crazy. Just pass it around. At least that way they didn't forfeit any momentum. Four shorties against in the playoffs...Blues hockey.theohall wrote:

Re: Craig Berube remains Blues coach with 3 year deal
Yeah. I wrote it in small letters, because the Blues won the Stanley Cup while having the 5th worst power play in the playoffs. What's kinda creepy, the 3rd worst team made the Eastern Conference Finals. So it kinda makes one wonder how much does the PP really matter in the playoffs?? The caveat - if the NHL finally gets officials to call playoff games the way the regular season is called (doubt that ever happens), power plays would likely determine playoff series, not 5v5 play.

I, along with the rest of us, would love to see the Blues do something special along the lines of what other WC teams like the Blackhawks and Kings have most recently done, and win multiple Cups within a relatively shorter time frame.
Chicago 2015, 2013, 2010
LA 2014, 2012
I truly believe the Blues, under Berube's leadership, coaching staff, style of play and core/up and coming talent can realize 2 Cups by 2021.

Re: Craig Berube remains Blues coach with 3 year deal
IMHO the PK in the playoffs is way more important than the power-play. That assumes, of course, that you're a very good team 5 on 5 which the Blues were. That being said, the Bruins buried some games with their lethal power play throughout the playoffs. But you don't control PP opportunities, you're at the mercy of the refs to give them to you. So if you end up in a slugfest and nothing is getting called, you're in trouble.theohall wrote:Yeah.
