I'm not even a baseball fan but that was incredible. Texas got the birds down to their last out TWICE right? Didn't Freese bail the Cards out BOTH times?dmiles2186 wrote:His timFreeze had some up's and down's, but that dude will forever be immortal in this city because of his run in 2011. He was the hottest baseball player on the planet that October, not to mention having the game saving triple followed by the game winning home run in Game 6. That's definitely what I'd call handling pressure. I just don't think he fits in the Cardinals plans moving forward.JesusNEVERexisted wrote:Looks like Freeze couldn't handle the pressure here.

Yeah he did. Well sorta. He hit the 2 run triple in the bottom of the 9th (with 2 strikes). In the bottom of the 10th, it was Lance Berkman I believe who tied it back up (with 2 outs, 2 strikes). Then in the 11th, game all tied, Freese hit the walk off home run to center.JesusNEVERexisted wrote:I'm not even a baseball fan but that was incredible. I guess it's possible to have a better world series game than that...but highly unlikely.dmiles2186 wrote:Yeah he did. Well sorta. He hit the 2 run triple in the bottom of the 9th (with 2 strikes). That's the most exciting world series game ever played...and quite probably the most exciting that ever will be played.
Damn that was awesome. The swing of emotions from anticipation, to depression, to elation to depression back to elation again ...and then elation one more time, all in dramatic fashion in the span of a few innings and being down to the last pitch multiple times IN AN ELIMINATION GAME...AND to have the guy who made an embarrassing error on an easy popup earlier in the game come back to save the day/the season/the world series? Twice? Are you (Franking) kidding me?
If you made a movie about that game, you'd call bullshit because it would seem so unlikely, corny and storybook. Too fictitious to be believable, right?
I am getting goosebumps just typing this.
We watch that game at work for our Cardinals home opener party that we have every year. We have it on the big screen before the game starts that day.
Back in 2006, I thought game 7 against the Mets was an amazing game with an amazing and thrilling finish...the pitchers duel, the unreal catch at the wall to rob Rolen of a HR, the HR by Molina in the top of the 9th to go ahead and the heart attack bottom of the 9th with Wainright on the mound and Carlos "Cardinal Killer" Beltran at the plate, bases loaded & 2 out at Shea, the crowd going nuts and Wainright freezing Beltran with the nastiest curveball you'll ever see...wow. But that game pales in comparison to game #6 in 2011.
It's good to be a Cardinals fan.
