Blues vs. Blackhawks Round 1 Discussion Thread

Post by dmiles2186 »

This isn't a GDT. This is to talk about the series leading up to the games and on off days.

Don't know about you, but...I'm not feeling so hot about this series at the moment. Interested to see how our team looks healthwise for game one. This thread is going to be a ball of positivity from now until Game 1, I just feel it!

I'll give someone five bucks for playoff tickets if you're looking to unload them.

I'm not feeling good about it either, but hopefully a few days off to clear their heads and the return of some injured players will help. I'm really curious to see how many currently in the MASH unit play game 1. I know Hitch said that anybody that could play would play (meaning the last couple games of regular season), but I'm not sure that was 100% honest. I suspect Hitch gave some guys a week off so they'd be fresh in the playoffs.

Game 1, IMHO, is virtually the entire series.

If we show up, play well, score some goals (critical) and have a good game (not even necessarily win) then this team has a chance. As I said in the other thread: if Hitch can calm these guys down and we put together a good Game 1, anything can happen. But I just don't know how this team can recover if we continue to have serious confidence issues and get manhandled in Game 1. The train has clearly come off the tracks and I don't know what magic Hitch has up his sleeves but whatever he's got needs to come out sooner rather than later.

Disagree. We have to win every home game. Losing game one would be crushing.

Agree on game 1 being huge. If we get destroyed game 1, I will be on the verge of giving up hope.

I've been trying to decide what it will take to get my confidence back. I think a solid game 1 win that reminds me of the Blues pre-suckage would go a really long way. Other than that, I think it's just winning the series. If we make round 2, I think the last 6 games become old news.

If the Blues lose game 1, there will be more red than blue inside of Kiel for game 2. The series will be over.

Thanks. I also have the added benefit of being right. :) It's going to be bad enough on Thursday. It's one of the things that keeps me from wanting to go to games against Chicago/Detroit...local fans bail so quickly on tickets for those games, and the visiting fans just eat it up. Nothing ruins the home game experience more than that.

This is a little reassuring. I guess Tarasenko is included in that?

This makes it sound like most will be back game 1, not later in the series.

It's something.

Impossible!

I am drooling at this matchup! They haven't met in 12 years! Hawks/Blues in the playoffs should be REQUIRED BY LAW every 5 years! :okman:

The 2013-4 Blues have added a new chapter to sports history's epic collapses. 9 points up with two weeks left in the season.

If they get almost everybody back healthy for game 1(I am assuming Tarasenko is a pipe dream), they might be able to make a series of it.

More likely, they get booed off the ice in game 2 and lose in 4. Four straight years of playoff underachievement should get somebody fired.

The only positive lining in this whole fiasco is Alex Steen demonstrated with a 'career' first half to the season just how good this team could be with a 40 goal scorer level talent on the top line. I sure hope whoever is their GM next year was paying attention to this.

Don't know if they've posted, but Miley Cyrus has a concert on Wednesday, so most people believe Game 1 in Thursday, Game 2 is Saturday.

I think Game 1 is huge too, but it's never the entire series. We lost to the Sharks in OT in Game 1 two years ago and then won the final 4 games. I get that the Hawks are a different animal, but point out, every series has endless possibilities at the start. They've gotta beat us 4 games too. I don't feel like our guys will just lay down and take that, especially with a lot of our top guys suiting back up.

I never thought I would say this, but I'm stoked that Miley Cyrus has a concert in St. Louis this week. It ~guarantees us an extra day of rest for our injuries.

Hawks/Blues always has a TON of intensity, pushing and shoving, and fights! That's why it's one of the best rivalries in ALL of sports!
