Game is also on KMOX but couldn't fit into header.
BLUES (14-3-3) at BRUINS (14-6-1)

TV: NHLN-US, RDS, FS-MW, NESN

Last 10: St. Louis 7-2-1; Boston 7-2-1

Season series: This is the first of two meetings between the St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins. In their most recent matchup, on Feb. 22, 2012, Brad Marchand scored a pair of goals and the Bruins won 4-2 at Scottrade Center.

Big story: The defending Eastern Conference champions are coming on and have taken over first place in the Atlantic Division. The Blues are chasing first in the Central, but in a division in which two points separates the top four teams they could find themselves going in the opposite direction with a loss.

Team Scope:

Blues: Jaroslav Halak will again be in net after bouncing back from a start Sunday in which he gave up three goals on six shots and was pulled in the first period against the Washington Capitals to help St. Louis defeat the Buffalo Sabres 4-1 on Tuesday. Halak stopped 23 shots for his 11th win.

The Blues got three of their goals from offseason acquisitions: Brenden Morrow had his first multi-goal game for St. Louis, and Magnus Paajarvi, who came back from the Edmonton Oilers in the David Perron trade, had his first of the season to close the scoring.

"I've scored some pretty big goals over the years," Morrow told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Wednesday. "Every part of hockey is fun, but there's nothing more enjoyable than scoring goals. Everyone wants to score goals and it feels good and I don't think that's something that I've lost over the years.

"You go through slumps and you're scared to death that you may never score another goal. But it's something I don't feel like I can't do anymore."

Bruins: This is the start of a three-game homestand for Boston, which plays five of its next six at TD Garden. A 2-1 win against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday combined with a loss by the Tampa Bay Lightning later that night vaulted the Bruins into the Atlantic lead.

Tuukka Rask has been a workhorse, starting 18 of Boston's first 21 games, and it was easy to see why coach Claude Julien went back to him even though he started against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday. Rask stopped 43 shots against the Rangers for his 13th win, lowering his goals-against average to 1.61 and raising his save percentage to .946.

"When you're out there, you don't really expect a goal to go in. You just know how good he is," defenseman Dougie Hamilton said. "You know if there's a shot, he's probably going to save it."

Who's hot: Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester has one goal and five assists during a five-game point streak. … Bruins forward Shawn Thornton has goals in two of his past three games.

Injury report: St. Louis forward Patrik Berglund (upper body) won't play Thursday, but could return to the lineup over the weekend. Defenseman Jordan Leopold (finger) is on injured reserve. … Boston defenseman Adam McQuaid (hip/groin) is day-to-day.

I (Franking) hate games on NHL Network. I have no idea why they black them out on GCL. I guess I'm watching this game on a shitty stream.

Can I get a pointer to a stream. For some reason, my cable provider will not provide NHL network.

IIRC Viper has the inside scoop on some high quality streams that are better than thefirstrow or vipbox streams. He's always in Flashchat so I plan on asking him there.

Halak got two points tonight. We should trade him, immediately. I'm not kidding. The sky is falling.

For years I have felt pretty differently, but after these games, through issues and troubles and the occasional bad play, I can say this with total and complete honesty:

Jaroslav Halak, in a Bluenote, makes me incredibly happy.

I had a work thing, so I only got to listen/see the 3rd period, OT, and the shootout. But to go into Boston and claw out 2 points is admirable. I was talking to a co-worker about this yesterday before the game: I go into every game this year expecting the Blues to win. They are that good. They are that deep. They just seem to find a way to win, or at the very least, get the OT point. Aside from the Sharks and Capitals games, they've been in every game this year with a chance to win. What more can you ask for?

And I echo the Jaro praise. I read an article yesterday where they said he was 'struggling' this year. I looked at the numbers; save percentage is low, but he also doesn't face many shots at all. In terms of games played, he was middle of the pack (before last night's game). All of the people above him and below him in the standings had seen more than 400 shots, most of them had seen 500+. Jaro had faced 373 shots. The only other person sub-400 shots faced was Jonathan Quick and he's injured. He was pretty bad in the Washington game, but outside of that, the guy has been steady as they come this year, in my opinion. I know there's still rumblings the Blues might go out and get Ryan Miller, but really, Jaro is having a great season.

Also, just random: Chris Kerber is the best play by play man in all of St. Louis. I'd say the NHL, but I don't hear many other teams' announcers. He just effortlessly calls a game, he's colorful, he's entertaining, and the most important part, he tells you what's going on. I know that seems obvious, but for the radio, he's got to paint a picture and he does so with ease.

Tukka Rask: can't stop the Blues in the shootout. Can't break his stick Belfour-style.

So why did Roy get that goal? Didn't it bounce off of Schwartz's skate right before going in?

I keep missing these games because I work late Tuesdays and Thursdays. This week is, thankfully, much more accommodating to my schedule.

What a great 3rd period, OT and shootout. Good stuff.

LOL at Rask for taking the loss out on his stick. Who says they don't make sticks like they used to? That thing is apparently solid.

We own Boston. :okman:
