It's a little concerning that we don't seem to play a full 60 every game. But, we haven't had a super easy schedule thus far, so it's very reassuring to be able to have off nights and still be 5-1.

Was the tying goal in the third legit? Guy next to me adamantly called it a high stick the second it happened. Then they showed the replay on the screen and everybody thought it was a high stick. But, then they counted the goal which was surprising.

Because of DirecTV's scheduling issue, I didn't get to see it live. Saw the replay on NHL Network once.
Looked like a high stick to me.
I'm guessing they didn't find enough evidence to overturn the call on the ice.

The radio broadcast said that it seemed like it was high, but there wasn't enough of a camera angle to overturn the call.

10 of 12 points in the first big run is great. There are obviously some issues that need to be dealt with, but this is a great start, and we have the possibility of being a great team.

They offered a free movie station for 3 months.
I asked for free Center Ice. (I felt kind of stupid asking for it for just missing the 3rd period and OT, but I figured it couldn't hurt.)
They didn't give it to me, but we settled on a $20 credit on my account.

It's something.
Shit...I was gonna say something about that so no one would have this happen to them. I was confused too; there was 1 source(directv guide) that said 5PM, and every other source said 7PM.Pretty stupid but thank god I called off work to watch the game or I'd be in the same boat as you were.

It was close, very close. On the replay, you can actually see Heatley waits...waits...waits....until the puck is basically level with the bar and then swats at it. From what I could see, it was too close to call. The on ice call was a goal and on the replay, I couldn't see enough evidence to overturn that.

Watching it live, I was 100% sure it was a high stick. Once they showed it back, it was too close to call. Kudos to Heatley for waiting like he did. That was outstanding.

It depends on what the actual rule is for a high stick (which I'll admit I'm not willing to look up). All we ever hear is "above the crossbar" as to the determining factor. Heatley swung his stick from way up high, but it didn't make contact until the puck was (seemingly) at or just below crossbar-level. So his stick motion started in what was clearly a high stick- but I'm guessing that doesn't matter because the point of contact was ruled to be at/just below the crossbar.

He's still a douche.

Not really liking NBC's broadcasting at all. They suck at showing replays, cut to commercial break as fights are starting, and pronounce everyone's names wrong.

That said. I'm loving this team. Going into the 3rd period period down a goal and I'm fully expecting them to come back and win that game.

I like this compact schedule. I could get used to hockey 3+ times a week.

Pierre McGuire is in the running for worst broadcaster in sports.

It's Per-Ron, not Pair-Oh, dammit. Nobody cares that you took 10th grade French and think you know how pronounce everything correctly.

If it really is a french name, it's actually a mix of both, but pair-oh is still wrong :D

the R is that classy french R-pronunciation (which I believe english speaking people can not pronounce, since the is no similar sound in their language), and the N at the end has a very soft pronunciation, but you still pronounce it (if you are not drunk).

Back to topic: I did not see the game, but I like the fact that apparently the boys played rather bad, but still got away with the W :okman:

Watching NBCSN is like watching a giant opposition orgy. I know Parise is a great player but they kissed his ass all damn night. There are other players on the ice too, guys. I must have been at the fridge or on the crapper when they were lapping praise on the Blues.

Saw the game...

While Pietrangelo had his bad moments, he was not near as bad this game as he was vs Dallas. MacDonald looked off until about the middle of the 3rd period. Steen couldn't say on his skates. Although Steen and MacDonald did their fair share of setting up Tank with some wonderful scoring chances. Stewart is a mystery. I know he is not getting much ice time and some of his shifts, it seems like he is doing nothing. Then, he appears making solid plays at key times. Hoping the solid play starts appearing more often than the invisible man. It has in the past two games, which is a very good thing. Russell had some interesting moments with poor passes in the defensive zone (like MacDonald).

Major props to the way Perron, Oshie and Backes are playing the game. Perron really turned the corner from the first couple of games when he looked like he couldn't win a board battle to save his life. Same can be said for Sobotka and Tarasenko. Tarasenko's ability to get shots on goal while setting up an opponent as a screen is awesome. He did it early in the 1st period again. Berglund is playing okay, but other than his goal, which Perron set up and one other good scoring chance, he was kind of invisible, too - like Stewart.

Redden is solid - although he did seem to ice the puck 4 different times. Shattenkirk - outstanding again.

I don't recall the last time the Blues defense was generating this many points - not even last season. Heck, Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo are #1 and #2 in the NHL for points by defenseman.

The Blues PK let them down this game, which is what made it close. However, going up against someone of Parise's caliber, that will happen on occasion. Also being another back-to-back game and traveling while being the 6th game in 9 days showed for a bit. The Blues ability to dig down and fight back after going down 2 goals was awesome!!

The Heatley goal - too close to overturn. Had a Blues player scored it the same way, I would want it to count, so can't really say it was a bad goal. It was really close.

Consider this: the boys are winning when they've yet to gel. When everyone is up to full speed, look out. Meanwhile you have teams like Chicago and San Jose who are winning and winning big, but let's not forget that they're playing against teams who have yet to gel. At the end of the day, I think we're better than them both because we're winning games whilst playing like absolute shit for 40 out of 60 minutes. They'll come back to earth as other teams improve, but we'll take off because we're not at 100% yet.
