Put a fork in the Big 12
This sh** is over. Finally.
And it's really a shame, because I loved the Big XII. I hope Texas is proud of themselves.

MU is going to get that azzes handed to them in football, but I still think it's the right move. The Big 12 was too unstable and it was only a matter of time until it folded.
Pinkel better change the kid of guys he recruits in a hurry.

If they get into the SEC it will get them some good national exposure on CBS. I'm not sure how competitive they will be but if they could change their system a bit you never know. They will definately have to get faster.

I think they'l be fine in the SEC. So much is made about how great that conference is. It's damned good, for sure, but it's a little overhyped.
Yes, they have LSU, Alabama, and U of Tebow, but they also have Kentucky, Mississippi, Miss State, and Vanderbilt. Arkansas is good about once every 10 years. Auburn and South Carolina are the same way.

MU will struggle at first, but being in the SEC should make recruiting a bit easier overall.

I'm sure of that......but it's this spread offense that I don't think will ever get it done consistently down there.
Even Spurrier finally decided to get himself some big boys and run the rock.
Pinkel has done a great job of using a system that would allow him to excel using athletes not necessarily as sought after by some of the larger institutions.
That said, I think he's a bright coach and will adapt.
Oh....but to be a realist to.........it's going to cost more green to recruit in the SEC, that's just a fact.

lol, that's what my dad said too. He said Mizzou will have to learn to cheat more than they already do.

To be honest, I'm certain that is understood and had to have been considered before they even decided to look into in.
Of course none of those talks can be 'official', but it had to be considered.

Re: Put a fork in the Big 12
Florida ran the spread offense for years and actually won a National Championship running it. When a team has the WRs and a decent QB, most defenses don't have enough depth at the defensive back position to match-up consistently. This is a big reason Mizzou won 40+ games over the past 4 seasons and has been a challenging opponent for the other Big 12 teams since Pinkel got the thing implemented. It'll work fine in the SEC. They just need to get better at the WR position. Franklin should do well once he gets through this "learning" season.DaDitka wrote:cardsfan04 wrote:MU will struggle at first, but being in the SEC should make recruiting a bit easier overall.

We've won 40+ games, but also consistently got spanked when we played the big dogs. We struggle in big games and against big teams.theohall wrote:Florida ran the spread offense for years and actually won a National Championship running it. I hope you are right on Franklin, but he's not only terribly inaccurate, he seems to struggle with even clean hand offs, and appears to have zero feel for the game, No pocket presence, no understanding of game management, no ability to anticipate. Yes these are things that can come from getting reps....I'm just saying he's got a long - long way to go.

Re: Put a fork in the Big 12
Franklin makes me nervous, but I agree that he should be better once he gets over the learning curve. I don't know how good he'll be even then though.
Mizzou will struggle in the SEC for awhile. But, it will make recruiting easier because of prestige and exposure.
