Man I wish we had a better shot at Crosby. Still 1 ball out of 48 is better than none.
This just in, New Jersey wants our balls, or theyll take one and our 2nd rounder if thats all we have left. Apparently pleau looked at stevens funny.

Should we start threads about any of the free agents still available or maybe a thread about the draft(Is the order 100% clarified)?

I think I read that last years contracts are just going to disappear, but the years will still count toward "years served" for free agency purposes.

Another interesting draft observation at hf:
Its this way:
3 ball teams = 4 = 12/48 = 25%
2 ball teams = 10 = 20/48 = 41,6%
1 ball teams = 16 = 16/48 = 33,3%

And let me guess... the idiots are going on and on how about how it's unfair that there's a better chance that a team with 1 or 2 balls gets Crosby?

There are more idiots worried about conspiracy theories (Rangers, Det, tor)it seems like. Tsn just posted some numbers. It looks like 46 balls total.
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature.asp?fid=7314
3 ball teams = 3 = 9/45 = 20.00%
2 ball teams = 9 = 18/45 = 40.00%
1 ball teams = 18 = 18/45 = 40.00%
Thats even more to complain about for them.
Edit: sorry 45 balls.

I'd rather see that than watch him put on a Rangers jersey.
Thats the Blues fan in me speaking....
The nhl fan in me, knows that the league is probably better off with Crosby going to the stinking Rangers.
How is that the Blues fan in you speaking? I'd much rather him go to the Rangers than the Wings.
Yeah, I didn't exactly say what I intended, but after being up since 3 this morning following all this - I'm too tired to correct it...

The conspiracy theorist in me still can't help but wonder if they didn't somehow come up with a system that 'looked' random enough to the causal observer but still gave NYR one of the best chances for the number 1 pick.
That seems so injust. I don't think it matters too much where Crosby lands, if he's that good, he'll make everyone take notice. Gretzky did some of his best work in Canada yet everyone in the NHL knew about it.
Some people have a way about them that seems to say: "If I have only one life to live, let me live it as a jerk."

um, if you haven't noticed, the rangers have stunk up the league for some time now. how they somehow wouldn't "deserve" a high pick is beyond me.
besides, with all the craziness with teams trying to adjust, buying people out, getting below cap, etc., the pick will likely be traded i'm sure. these next few weeks will be (Franking) awesome.

So does this mean the Blues draft 12th overall, if they don't win the Crosby pick?
In inverse order of above:
1. FLA
2. DET
3. NSH
4. EDM
5. TMP
6. PIT
7. TOR
8. NEJ
9. VAN
10. LAX
11. NYI
12. STL
At 12th overall, they've got a shot at some decent talent.

Well, whoever we draft in this years 1st round will look great along side our 1st round pick from the last draft. *cough* double-jointed goaltender

If they do draft 12th overall in a "snake draft", they don't pick again until pick number 48.
The best positions are either top 3 or bottom 3.

I'd rather set my head on fire while watching a fourgy involving Gary Thorne, Cris Collinsworth, Kirk Maltby, and Adam Vinatieri than see
anything beneficial happen to the Wings.
