Mizzou Coaching Search

Haith quitting was likely a blessing. I've kinda assumed we would end up with a mediocre signing and dismissed the the possibility of getting Gregg Marshall (Wichita State).

UNTIL, yesterday, when Mike Alden met with Marshall's agent. It could be as simple as Marshall gaining leverage for a raise. But, he hasn't said no yet, and his agent meeting with us is a good sign. Please please please please please please please let this happen.

Looks like we'll know Monday afternoon. Board of Curators just called a meeting for Monday at 1PM. Board has to vote on all major hires. Everything points to Marshall right now. That would be HUGE!

Now the rumors are flyin. It broke that Kim Anderson had been offered the job. But, he immediately denied that. Now people are going on about Jay Wright from Villanova.

I think the only thing we know for sure is that Mizzou athletic department seems rock tight in terms of keeping a secret. I can't believe how quiet this search has been. Alden said a few days ago, "Next time you hear from me, we'll have a coach." He apparently meant it.

Mizzou is incredibly annoying right now. Just tell us the damn coach already. There's a board of curators meeting in progress almost certainly to vote on approving a new coach. But, they won't comment when the meeting is over.

Mizzou went all Fort Knox to protect the hiring of Kim (Franking) Anderson. I mean, I love that Alden, et al, can keep a secret. They did this the right way. But, why does THIS have to be what MIzzou does well? They don't make good hires, but they sure as hell announce them properly?

OTOH, the real issue is that they hired Haith. Hiring him set the program back which is why we have to settle for Kim Anderson now. I'll cheer for him and hope he does well. Gotta be happy for an alum getting his dream job. But, when your program loses its coach to Tulsa and you have to look to D2 for a replacement, something probably went wrong.
