OT: 2014 MLB Thread

So, I'm going to try something a little different. Since no one goes to the other boards, and since there was discussion of moving all topics under one roof, thought I'd try to strike up a baseball thread on the main board. Curt, if you feel the need to move this, it's fine. Just trying to strike up some conversation.

Also, Go Birds! World Series or bust, yo.

World Series or bust? I'd say we did both...

Tired of StL facing Boston for Championship games (Rams vs Pats, Cards vs Red Sox x2). What are the odds we face the Bruins in the Cup Final this year?

The way I look at it, Boston lost the Cup finals last year and then won the World Series. I'm hoping we reverse and lose the World Series, only to win Lord Stanley.

As for the chance of meeting up with Boston, it's very possible, but it would scare the crap out of me. They're a good team. They remind me of an Eastern Conference version of the Blues. They're about the only team in the East that plays a defense-first, rugged forecheck style like we do.

I want to see us take Boston to 7 games and then in OT have Pietrangelo bust in on a break, score and then fly across the goal crease a la Bobby Orr. Sweet redemption.

As for MLB, this years world series will pit the Rays against the Dodgers. Dodgers in 6, Don Mattingly gets his first championship.

That would be pretty sick.

And to not allow a run. I think that would be probably be a record.

I think I've decided to look at the Borjous error play as an overall positive. I mean, getting there isn't enough, but he probably won't drop that ball again this season. If he's cutting doubles off with relative ease, that's really good for us.

Nice to see the bats come alive finally. Adams is on fire. But, the bullpen was a bit shaky yesterday. Neshek walking Hamilton on 4 pitches was pretty bad.

Home opener in STL is always a great day. Can't wait to get off work and watch the pregame festivities.

I love Opening Day. The first home opener in the new stadium was my 21st birthday. My dad and I went to that one and have only missed 1 since.

Went to BPV today which was cool. But, I bet there were 10,000 people in there (no hyperbole). It was (Franking) insane. Sooooooo many people. It is really nice though and with fewer people would be a ton of fun.

I went to BPV before the Blues game on Saturday so it was a little less crowded. Really cool place. It took awhile, but it's worth the wait. It seems like it's going to be the new downtown destination before/after sporting events.

Congrats to AP on #500. Bittersweet it was in a different shade of red/white, but I'm happy for him nonetheless. Some of these idiots on social media saying Eff him and all that, it's ridiculous. The guy gave his heart and soul for us and took money elsewhere. We got 2 WS and 3 MVP's from him.

So I haven't watched a second of the game until now, but Wacha strikes out the first 9 batters. Strikes out 10 in 4 innings. But walks 5 and is yanked after 4? What a weird stat line.
