Yadi is hitting 2nd today.

My first reaction was WTF. Then I realized he has a really good OBP (.378). Then I realized Jon Jay has been doing well lately too (.404 OBP in May/.373 OBP in 2012) and I'm back to WTF.

And Yadi goes out and puts up 4 RBI. Baseball's a crazy game. It always seemed when TLR would do that sort of stuff, we'd all scratch our head, and then it would work out. Today was a weird game in general. Waino gives up 12 hits or something and gets the W.

Wacha is getting the call up for Thursday's start. I'm a mite bit giddy.

Me too. Kind of sucks that he'll likely be a super two. But, I'm really excited to see him. In fact, I'm probably going to try to get tickets to the game.

34-17. 17 games over .500 with a .667 winning percentage. This team is soooooo much fun to watch right now. Literally everyday I expect them to win. I mean, I don't expect them to go 162-0, but I feel like we're a favorite everyday.

I agree. The negative fan in me keeps waiting for their annual midseason swoon where they backslide a bit. But the difference is that the pipeline of prospects is so strong that it feels like they could plug anyone in and keep winning ballgames (which is exactly what they've been doing).

And seriously, Mujica completely owned the closer role from day one. He's rock solid in the 9th.

I changed the name of the thread. Didn't realize the first 2 were in KC, the last 2 in STL.

Every team in baseball is playing a 4 game home and home with a team in the opposite league. The matchups are supposed to be rivalries, but some are more than a stretch. I think I'd rather them do this over consecutive weekends or something similar instead. Or maybe Friday-Monday on Memorial Day weekend. That would give people a better chance to travel. Then again, there was a LOT of red in KC.

For sure. It was Busch West for the two games we had in KC.

An absolute gem of a comeback last night. KC was in control of the game for almost 3 hours in real time...and then it crumbled within 10 minutes. I really do feel bad for them slipping like they are. They've only won 4 out of their last 23. That's just a miserable swoon.

I do too, but hope they wait a day before righting the ship. Although, if they get swept here, I could see Yost being out the door. My guess is that the writing is already on the wall, but a 4-game sweep (or 2 2-game sweeps?, not sure lol) to the Cards could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

We have a .673 winning percentage!!!! .673!!! We could literally take .100 points off of that and still be in the conversation of best teams. Hopefully all these pitching injuries don't hurt us too much.

Ugh. Boggs. Marte. I feel like Matheny was trying to say, 'Here, you guys can take the game if you want it.' Oh well, only one loss. I text my friend as Boggs was warming up, 'We lose this game if he pitches.'

I just didn't figure it would be at 3:14 AM.

WTF was Matheny thinking. I'm frustrated that Boggs was, well, Boggs. But, I'm furious with Matheny for using him in that spot. It blows my mind that this chain of events led to him being used in a 1 run game in the 9th:

-Loses closer role because he sucks
-Sent to AAA because he sucks
-Inexplicably called up from AAA despite sucking at AAA
-Sucks in his first outing after being recalled because he sucks

So, let's put him in a high pressure situation when Maness and Kelly are available. Even though I disagree with some moves Matheny makes, his results have largely gotten him a pass from me. But, that was completely indefensible last night IMO.

In any case, Boggs is in AAA and we called up Keith Butler who A) has worse AAA stats than Boggs (only 5.2IP though) and hasn't had success higher than AA despite being 24. Boggs needs to not be on the roster, but I fear we are solving one problem by creating a second.
