Damn them for waiting until I go back to work to have a day game lol.

It's early April, so it's not a major series. But, the series we just had and the one upcoming are about as close to major series as we can have in April.

I don't hope for him to do much, but I always love getting to see Scottie again.

Cards now 4-1, solid outing from Westbrook, 3 dingers in the first. Good game, for sure.

Hard to believe that the 'worst' start so far was turned in by Waino, and it wasn't even that bad.

I think the most promising thing about the first week is the starting pitching. Waino will be there by the end of the year. As the year progresses, his arm will continue to get stronger and he'll hit his spots more.

And, it was no secret that our offense was going to be good. It won't maintain this pace, but it's going to be robust.

But, there were/are a few questions about the rotation. Westbrook/Lohse are always question marks to me and Jaime needs to prove he is getting tougher mentally. But, so far, they have been really good which is reassuring.

I don't know that I felt encouraged by Westbrook's outing yesterday what so ever. He had four walks in the first two innings and couldn't induce ground balls to save his life.

The results were fine, so there is no need for alarm.......but I certainly wouldn't say it was a good outing by any measure. I think's it's safe to say that if he continues to bring that to the mound he'll loose 7 out of every 10.

The think that encouraged me was Lynn's outing.

I think Westbrook was fine once he settled in. Obviously if it takes him a couple innings to settle in very often, it's going to spell trouble. But, he's our 5 starter. His job is essentially to eat innings and pitch well enough for the offense to win games when he starts.

Fair enough, it just read as though you were 'excited' by his start......I wasn't alarmed...but I felt it was a downer considering how much he got talked up in spring training.

Yeah, my post probably read more positive than it should have. (Franking) ATT is blacking out 20 games again this year and I didn't realize that game was one of them until right before game time. Took me until the 2nd inning to get to the bar to watch it, so I missed most of his badness.
