I have a Samsung and I love it. Before I went with the Samsung LCD, I had a 40" inch Sony Bravia 1080p. I noticed some weird "clouding" going on when the screen was showing something dark. I did some research online and supposedly there is an issue with these TVs and I was not the only one experiencing it. I took the TV back and exchanged it for another one. I took it home and immediately noticed the same problem. This was back in the spring so maybe the kinks with that particular model has been worked out, but I'll say this... You really can't go wrong with a Samsung. They're excellent displays. I'm very happy with mine.Krigloch the Furious wrote:lastnight at 11pm I bought Call of Duty 4 and a PS3. Now I need the tv.
samsung or sony bravia?
Do some research though, because I've seen some incredible looking Sony HDTVs.

I see a lot of LCD talk. Is there something wrong with plasmas that I'm not aware of?
I ask because the TV I've been looking at is a plasma so.....yea.
The Pioneer Kuro to be exact.

I'm not up on either, but.. Everything I've ever heard is that plasma starts out with a better picture and deteriorates very fast.. Have to talk to someone more savvy to know why.ViPeRx007 wrote:I see a lot of LCD talk. Is there something wrong with plasmas that I'm not aware of?

But are we talking "fast" as in like 10 years?Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:I'm not up on either, but.. yikes. I know plasmas sucked when they first came out, but I've done some research and it seems like a lot of the things you hear are either myths or they just flat out don't happen anymore in the newer plasmas.Mellanby_equals_grit wrote:I've heard serious deterioration as soon as a year.
I don't know enough people who have them though so it's hard to get firsthand feedback. Heck, I don't know enough people who have a big screen tv period....it's kind of weird actually.

Has anybody ever heard of the red rings of death in the xbox 360? Because I just got them
Apparently its some fatal flaw in the 360? The green lights that usually mean "good" when you turn on the 360 turn red and mean "bad" and it stops working.
I havent looked into it yet but I guess you have to send it back into microsoft and they fix it... a recall of sorts. Somebody told me 1 in 3 gets screwed up like this.
but anybody who was in Flashchat tonight knows I dont know jack about technology.

Yep, you're screwed. Send it in to Microsoft....richtedm wrote:Has anybody ever heard of the red rings of death in the xbox 360? Because I just got them

This is the reason I haven't bought a 360 since the first one I had Red Ringed in the menu and I didn't even get to play a single game on it. I just returned it and didn't bother sending it to Microsoft. I've heard the return process is kind of a pain as well.

Plasmas are nice, but they are very much prone to burn-in, and are fragile. The lifespan of a plasma is also inferior to that of an LCD display.ViPeRx007 wrote:I see a lot of LCD talk. Is there something wrong with plasmas that I'm not aware of?
I ask because the TV I've been looking at is a plasma so.....yea.
The Pioneer Kuro to be exact.
I don't know. I read conflicting things. Many people say that the burn in of plasmas has been blown way out of proportion mainly because of how the early plasmas were. If you get a nice one, it shouldn't be a problem, especially since most come with features to fix it if it does happen.STL JA wrote:Plasmas are nice, but they are very much prone to burn-in, and are fragile. The Kuro is freakin sweet looking though...and it should for the price.
Do a search for it on google. You don't find much that is negative about it...except the price of course.
