If I had the scratch, and I may have mentioned this here before, I would open a Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme, right next to a White Castle, and locate it about two blocks from campus.

You would make a ton of money with a white castle or jack in the box out here, especially with the amount of kids from st. louis. There has to be some reason they haven't started any franchises out here.
There was a Jack in the Box in Columbia when I was a kid, turned into the Wendy's across from Shakespeare's at some point, and that lot is now a church building. Not sure why it left or who ran it way back when.
The rumor I heard is that Stan Kroenke bought a Krispy Kreme franchise for Josh or whichever kid it was on the Tigers' basketball team a couple years back to run, haven't heard much out of that lately.
Also read on another forum recently that Dunkin Donuts was looking for someone with assets of $1.5 million and liquid funds of $750K to open at least five shops in the Jeff City and Columbia area, think someone pulled that from the official website perhaps.

I just illegally parked in that church parking lot, when I just got my haircut.

Jeff City isn't that bad!!!
Way better than Lawrence. At least they have a decent pub there that doesn't have college students trying to get up on my wife...
so what if it's a gay bar?!
I looove drinking in Jeff.. At least as a novelty.. The beer is so retarded cheap nobody here even believes me.. (3 dollars pitchers.. not a special).. The hoosier-watching is unbelievable.. And you can walk into a bar, then walk into it 6 months later and see the same dozen people in the exact same seats.. But like I said it's a novelty for me, I wouldn't enjoy it if that was where I still lived.

Are you talking about Spectators? Paddy Malone's is decent, but its an older crowd all the friggin time. Never been to Mike's Corner Pocket either. I'm not really into going to those places anyway.

There are a lot more trolls at the Spectator poker games than on this forum..
Spectator's is so awesome.. The main bartender there went to WashU so for some reason every time i'm in there I get free drinks.. Outside of that I hear he's super skeezy.. Like the rumor was that a girl applied to be a bartender and his first question was "what do you think of cumstains on your teeth?".. Lol, how can you NOT love a place like that?
Last time I was in there it was July 3rd and I was in town for the holiday hanging out with a friend.. Ran into some guy we knew from HS who apparently worked for AB and told us to order whatever we wanted on them (guess he had a company credit card or somethin)..
Like I said I love drinking in Jeff.. It's like every bar is Pop's.. Only way cheaper.

Cool.
What's your square footage?
Our new place is going to run us about $230k (unless we go over)...and it's 2220 sq. ft.... 3853 sq. ft. if you include the walkout basement and garage (which I do, because I'm F'ING paying for them).

Congrats on the new place. Exciting times.
God damn, I need to convince my fiancee to move to St. Louis. What a bargain.

In fairness he lives out in the sticks of Illinois not in St. Louis.

Well, we're outside St. Louis, in Edwardsville...which can be a pretty "high rent" area. But that figure doesn't include the 5 acres the house will sit on, which we bought almost two years ago for $95k. So...I guess total it will be around $325k including the land.
I think we're lucky to have gotten the land at that price. Every other parcel of land around 5 acres in the Edwardsville area is considerably more than $95k. And the fact that it is on a lake made me think it would be a lot more than that. They were asking $100k...we offered $95k...and he said ok.
