Blues @ Hawks 10/1

Post by theohall »

Good night for Thomas - 1 G 2A. He has 5 points in his 3 preseason games.

Neighbors - 1 G 2A tonight vs the Hawks (G was empty netter). Will not be surprised at all if he stays on during the regular season for the 9-game tryout, since he won't count as a "roster" player unless he goes over 10 games, but will still count against the cap.

Vladdy scored a goal on a one timer off of a nice pass from Neighbors after he got a great pass from Thomas.

Bolduc looked like he belonged getting a PP assist on Barbashev's goal. I swear he intentionally put the puck off a Hawks defenders skate which created an issue in front of the net and Barbashev buried it. Even more impressive to me was Bolduc's positioning throughout the game. He gets the 3rd-man high concept and plays it perfectly covering when someone vacates an area where the puck might head back to if turned over. Lost count how many times he did that and kept play in the o-zone as a result.

Buchnevich looked really good.

The Blues eventual Springfield players - Toropchenko, Kaspick, and Todd - were a 4th line that created fits for the Hawks the entire game and even netted a goal. Kaspick was the Blues best faceoff guy on the night.

Perunovich made a few slick passing plays, but also seemed to get caught holding on to the puck too long a few times which was the only time his size mattered. He was playing his off-side.

Game is still available On Demand on ESPN+ and will also re-air on NHL Network 10/2 at 5 am and 5 pm ET.
