Blues trade Fabbri to Det for Jacob De La Rose
I know nothing about de la rose. Sad that fabbri won’t reach his potential in a blues uniform.

De La Rose takes Steen's spot while he's out with injury? I guess the wisdom in the front office is that no one in San Antonio is ready to step up. I find that hard to believe, but in Army I trust.

Re: Blues trade fabbri to wings for de la rose
Confused him with the older Chad LaRose, who was with Carolina. He's 37 and I believe retired. Oops.
So yea I know nothing about JACOB DE La Rose. His stats look like career 3rd/4th line guy.
Rutherford on Twitter mentioned that Fabbri desired more playing time and wasn't getting it. Bittersweet, sad, to see him leave. Forever a member of the 2019 cup squad. But the writing was on the wall and I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. Maybe it was as simple as the Blues were looking to move him and this was the best return we could get. Who knows. Or maybe it was just acquiring a player who's meant for the 3rd or 4th line and won't have higher expectations?
Wish Fabbri well. It's going to be rough seeing guys from the cup winning team move on. And it'll only happen more and more

Re: Blues trade fabbri to wings for de la rose
I wasn't wild about bringing Fabbri back in the first place, though the deal they gave him was reasonable. Every time he steps on the ice I feel like he's going to break or tear something. If he didn't have the injury riddled start to his career he would have developed better, I'm sure, but that's that. Not everyone will live up to their draft slot, and Fabbri was one of those guys.
This could also mean, and I don't know if De La Rose can be shuttled down to San Antonio without passing through waivers, that someone down there actually is ready and they wanted someone who could take over at the AHL level for the impending call up, especially with Steen hurt now.

Re: Blues trade Fabbri to Det for Jacob De La Rose
Short article about De La Rose from the 2018 IIHF World Championship
A fresh scouting report on the Canadiens' Jacob de la Rose
Quick answer: Defensive 3rd/4th line center. Don't expect offense from him. Also, he has to clear waivers to be moved, since he's already played 160 games and signed his ELC when he was 20. No, he isn't still on his ELC, but that's how waiver eligibility is determined. Games played and age when ELC was signed.

Re: Blues trade Fabbri to Det for Jacob De La Rose
Fabbri potted two PP goals last night for Detroit. Good for him, he just didn't fit into the Berube system and best of luck to the kid. Regardless of what team he's on, I don't wish ill will on anyone, but I'm sure his injury history isn't going to come to a screeching halt just because he's on a different club now, so hopefully he can get his career back on track but I wouldn't expect it.

Re: Blues trade Fabbri to Det for Jacob De La Rose
Fabbri needed to be a top 6 guy, not a bottom 6 guy. Unfortunately, for him because of his injuries, the Blues changed their roster and he was forced to earn minutes being a bottom 6 forward. It's not a role which suits him. End result - he's benched for Blais (rightly so) and MacEachern (who's a better fit in a bottom 6 role) and it didn't look like Fabbri was going to get ice time any time soon with the way those two were playing - even with Steen being injured.
Also, Detroit immediately put him on the PP and he immediately proved he belonged there. There just wasn't room anywhere on the Blues PP for him.
Good to see him off to a good start in Detroit and hopefully he does well. Just not against the Blues.

De la Rosa proposed starting tonight on line with Bozak and Blais.

Re: Blues trade Fabbri to Det for Jacob De La Rose
We'll see how that goes. I kinda have a feeling Nathan Walker gets recalled when the Blues head back to St Louis. Walker is on a 2-way contract, but with Tarasenko on IR, 700K is peanuts. De La Rose, however, is on a one-way, so that's a factor. But that hasn't stopped Armstrong from moving someone if necessary.

If De La Rose does decent enough, he can be flipped at the deadline for a pick or something. I don't see him being a long term fixture on the team.

Glad that Fabbri is finally getting his chance. Agreed that he wasn't likely to get it here.
Although with Fabbri's upside, I would have hoped for something a little more valuable in return.
