If not Q, then who?

Post by glen a richter »

I think most of us are on board with Coach Q coming back, but supposing he won’t, who would you like to see? I look at the Rangers and how well their hire has worked out on a team in a supposed rebuild. Can they poach a good college coach next season and just ride Berube the rest of this one?

Q is genuinely the only veteran coach I’d be interested in, and if not him I’d want a younger guy who can get the most out of a young group.

Coach Q is going to enjoy the holidays on the Hawks' dime and then he'll get to work. No worries. Blues hockey.

John de Lancie might be an interesting option. If anyone can get the Blues a stanley cup he certainly can. From what I've seen, the guy can do just about anything.

Palazzola suggests Alain Vigneault. I suggest he lay off the drugs.

That dude has no sources or inside information. Under the handle "Scottrade General," he would tweet out a rumor or trade without giving credit to the original "tweeter." After a few people called him out and embarrassed him, he changed his handle and started a new website. Baptism by fire, I guess. Credit to him for humbling himself, but he's no more of an insider than you or I.

AV would be a classic Doug hire, though.

A bit off topic, but looks like the Oilers convinced Hitchcock to come out of retirement and take over the head coach job from McLellan.

Hitch's first line in his post-game presser was awesome. He said it was the first time he'd been up for a 3rd period in awhile, because it was past his bed time.

Saw this name mentioned in an Athletic article by LeBrun: Rikard Gronborg

So found a Sportsnet article about him and it reads like the kind of outside the box thinking that could work for a team like the Blues which has no identity right now. He'd have a blank slate to work with to implement is completely different style system.

Why Rikard Grönborg could be NHL’s first European head coach since 2001

If nothing else, the Blues have a pretty solid history of being behind the times. It would be nice if they could hire a coach who would completely change the way the team played and maybe force everyone else to keep up for once.
