TEAM SNAPSHOTS
BLUES The Blues ended their three-game road trip with a frustrating shutout loss to the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.

It was the second time on the road trip (1-2-0) that the Blues were held scoreless.

"It just seems like we take a step back a little bit, maybe get a little too high off (Friday's 4-1 win in Vegas)," goalie Chad Johnson said after the game. "It was a pretty emotional win (in Vegas) and we had to come back and have that same sort of intensity, and I don't know if it was there or not."

"We've got to find a way to string these together because our division keeps on winning," added captain Alex Pietrangelo. "It's not good enough to win one, lose one. That's not the way we want to play."

KINGS Nate Thompson, Anze Kopitar and Alex Iafallo scored for the Kings on Saturday, but three goals wouldn't be enough as the Nashville Predators earned their 14th victory of the season with a 5-3 win against the Kings.

Calle Jarnkrok had a hat trick for Nashville.

The loss was the Kings' fourth defeat in their last five games.

"It takes 60 minutes to win in this League. We were pretty good in the first period, but I thought we fell off in the second and third and made some mistakes," Thompson told NHL.com after the game.

The Kings replaced head coach John Stevens earlier this season and named Willie Desjardins as interim coach.

Jonathan Quick (torn meniscus) and Trevor Lewis (foot) are among the Kings players dealing with injury.

HEAD-TO-HEAD Monday's matchup will be the first of three meetings between the Blues and Kings this season. The Blues were 2-1-0 against Los Angeles in 2017-18, outscoring the Kings 12-8 in the season series.

The Blues are 6-2-0 in their last eight matchups with the Kings.

Jake Allen is 5-2-0 with a 1.73 goals-against average, a .941 save-percentage and one shutout in seven career starts against Los Angeles.

THEY SAID IT
Mike Yeo
On Blues inconsistency from game-to-game
"We just can't keep coming and saying 'OK, it's good one night' and 'it's not good the next night.' We have to demand it of ourselves that we bring it night after night for 60 minutes."

BLUE NOTES
Ivan Barbashev is expected to dress in his 100th career NHL game… Brayden Schenn was the Kings' first-round draft pick (No. 5 overall) in 2009… Cardinals outfielder Harrison Bader will drop the ceremonial first puck before the game... Proceeds from Monday's 50/50 raffle and silent auction will benefit the United Way Disaster Relief Fund to help those impacted by the California wildfires.
Perhaps a loss tonight (to the League's worst team) will finally be the tipping point. So don't count on it.
