Dmitrij Jaskin

I have been super impressed with Jaskin since he has returned to the lineup. He just keeps getting better and better.
It looks like he has finally turned the corner and is really creating some things on the ice now.

How huge would it be if he was a big contributor down the stretch and in the playoffs?

He has been a bright spot during the recent rough patch. I'm excited to see where the ceiling will be with him.

Big fan of this kid. I wish it hadn't taken him so long to come around, but it is what it is.

plays hard, hits, shoots whenever he has a chance.
basically he's what we hoped Bergy would be.

Get rid of Bergs and add someone to play along side Jaskin and Stastny and waalaa... 3 extremely solid lines.

His ascension reminds me a lot of Schwartz's. They were left to toil on the 3rd and 4th lines, but they played all out and did what was asked even if their offensive numbers suffered. Eventually you could see it click and Hitch gave them more trust, more minutes, and a role that suited them better. The Blues have done a very good job as of late drafting and developing these players. Maybe I'm wrong, but this current crop (Senko, Schwartz, Jaskin and hopefully Rattie, Barbashev, etc.) seems to have a higher collective ceiling as the last crop (Backes, Oshie, Berglund, Perron, etc). That is highly encouraging.

Concur with all the praise. He's ready to be a full time NHLr now and probably a top 6 guy. If he's not currently ready to be top 6, he will be really soon. Really love what we've seen out of him. And, have even more appreciation for him because they really made him earn his way into our lineup. That was no small feat in and of itself.

For all the positives about him... He really should score a few more goals.

I mean, he has 9G in 33 games, which is a 22 goal pace. That's not too shabby for a rookie playing 3rd line minutes.

He's an effective version of Berglund. The only glaring thing that he needs to improve is his footspeed, particularly on the backcheck.

He has 5 goals in 10 games this month...so they have been going in a little more frequently as of late.
What I would like to see is a few more assists.

Good points by you and cardsfan above, I stand corrected. I guess I was going off of the last couple losses where he seemed to get several good looks and the puck just didn't find the net. But then, he wasn't the only one...

Completely agree Kurt. That's a fair assessment of my performance on the subject matter.

Agree with comments in comparison to Berglund. Jaskin has made strides in one season we've hoped to see from Berglund the last 3/4. Good for him. I'd bet there are some GMs who think they're real sly who'll ask about him if the Blues seek to do any deadline deals.
