Anyone else taking a small joy out of watching this dumpster fire?
Man oh man. And I think it's funny Nonis starts off with trading two of the only young guys on the team that are any good. And then getting Olli Jokinen. Clearly just a dump for a first round pick. Hilarious though.
Any of you guys have an interest in anyone?
Kessel maybe but I think the price would be too steep to even be worth it. The Leafs are going to have to eat so much salary if they trade Kessel and (especially) Phaneuf it's not even funny. And Clarkson is looking like pretty much the worst UFA signing ever.

Phaneuf...I used to like him a lot when he was a Flamer, but now no.

I'm not a Maple Leafs hater, so I am indifferent of the fire sale.
And the Maple Leafs have more money than they know what to do with, so eating some of Kessel's salary probably isn't a big deal for them. Probably hurts their pride much more than their pocketbook.
I'd love to have a player with Kessel's talent...but not necessarily Kessel himself. But a dozen other teams would love to have him as well...so...
Toronto has committed fans. What they've been put through is unconscionable.
I can't laugh at a move that makes the one team ahead of us significantly better, gives them a better D corps than us, quite possibly will help lock us into a first round meeting with the Blackhawks and on top of it all: Franson is the only player on the Leafs that would have interested me.
Poor Olli Jokinen, from what I hear. Then again, he can trade jobs with me whenever he wants.

Makes sense-they look to be shopping Phaneuf. They've got to have someone back there. And Roman seems like Shanahan's kind of player-and it's Shanahan in charge these days, make no mistake.

If I were Toronto, I'd say the same thing. You don't want Polak to know that you WANT to trade him, unless he wants to be traded of course. And if anything, those comments could drive up the asking price a bit...so there's that.
