I just looked at our remaining schedule. Had no idea we have a 6 game road trip coming up. At least we finish with 6 of 8 at home.

With the way we have played at home lately, I welcome more road games.

Ducks are winning 2-1 in Arizona...late in the 2nd.
Doan was just stopped on a breakaway.

Doan & Getzlaf just fought after a goal mouth scramble. That was fun to see.

Interesting "empty netter" in the Devils/Preds game last night.

Nashville is facing their first adversity this season - 4 straight losses. Every team has ups and downs during a season - and you had to figure that at some point their luck would run out and they'd come back to earth a bit.

Nice timing for both of our clubs, eh?

Hopefully we can put this rough patch behind us and take advantage of the opportunity.

We have acquired 13 of our last 20 points. It's not great, but we're definitely still chipping away at that lead. Not to mention we've shaved 5 points off of Nashville's lead already. The opportunity is definitely there, but we are already in the process of a mini-surge.

Nashville has the lead, but it's not absolute as we have enough games in hand to catch them.

They own the tie breakers right now, so would need to pass them.

On them to prove they haven't peaked/been overachieving all year. Hope they can't handle the pressure...

Hopefully we can play like we are capable of playing down the stretch. If we do, I think that puts us in great shape to win the division.

Look out - here come the Wild. They have been the hottest team as of late.

They're hot for sure. Not entirely sure I want to face them in the playoffs (although there are 6 other teams in the West that I could say the same thing about. They won't catch us though. 8 points in 18 games is a lot. If they go 18-0, we have to go 12-4-4 or something similar.

That kind of team is worrying though. They're hot as hell but won't climb much and could end up being the matchup a division-winning team is "rewarded" with...

5 in a row for them now. Getting rather comical.
Sucks though...we had the lead in the 3rd and could have been 2 pts. out with 2 games in hand.

Remaining schedule is brutal-probably the toughest in the league. Dense (only three breaks of more than one day between games and three back-to-backs still to go) and the only sub-500/not in the playoffs or playoff race team the Blues face the rest of the way is the Blue Jackets. Nashville by comparison, has no back-to-backs, has four breaks of two days or more between games and has games remaining against post-fire sale Phoenix and Buffalo as well as fading Calgary. And they have what is likely the second-toughest remaining schedule.

Time to show what we're made of, methinks. I know the playoffs are a "different season," but I have a feeling the way the team plays in these remaining games will reflect their true nature. We have the chance to take over the division, or we have the chance to drop in the standings. I would much rather them make a statement by entering the playoffs on a strong run and have their opponent dreading the matchup, rather than giving the impression to a lower seed that we are beatable.
