So with Winnipeg making a pretty sizeable deal, they become a force to contend for one of the top 3 spots, if they weren't already. I'm almost of the opinion that a rental d-man wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, just someone to get the pp alive and kicking. Lord knows Hitch won't give Cole the minutes. The central is too tight to mess around, lest we're looking at a wild card slot before we know it.

Recovery from this type of surgery - per the website of the Dr that performed the surgery is 3 to 7 weeks depending on the severity of the injury. 3 weeks = beginning of March. 7 weeks = end of March beginning of April. Pretty simple math.

Agreed. Irony: Myers might have fit in nicely. Wouldn't mind acquiring someone not so much as just a rental as a long-term replacement for Bouwmeester. Not really the ideal offseason cap picture to do that though.

Tough one.

Yeah, well every doctor will tell you though that every patient and every injury is different. Besides, does that mean he's just back on skates at the end of that period-still needing conditioning and to get re-integrated with the team? Or does that mean he'll be cleared to work out before that and then ready to play in 3-7 weeks? Not good that the timing has the front end of when he could return right at the deadline.

Either way, what I predict is that the Blues stand pat on defense at the deadline. Which is fine.

Usually with timelines for injuries, a 3-7 week timeline means they will be playing in about 3-7 weeks.

I doubt the Blues stand pat at the deadline. They'll make some kind of move...probably on defense.

I don't see them staying absolutely out of the trade deadline, but I don't expect anything flashy.

I think defense is a good guess. I would expect them to look for someone with lots of experience that can play physical on the blueline. Our current depth lacks a big hitter, and we need one. But a depth guy, not a star player, and someone they can control past this season.

I don't think there's room for another forward unless something zany happens and they ship out Stastny or something. We all talk about bergy and ott, but I don't think you get anything better for those guys with their salaries and they are part of the team at this point so I don't see them messing with the top 12 forwards unless it's just something insanely in our favor.

Berglund and Ott for Mike Green. Do it Army!

Yes, I know that's a ridiculous proposal.

Soo....

He actually had the surgery on 2/5/15.

Others who have had a similar surgery have been out 6-8 weeks.

So going by that timetable...
If he's out 6 weeks: He'll be back in a few weeks with about 12-14 games left in the season.
If he's out 8 weeks: He'll be back with about 6-8 games to go in the season.

Hopefully he's back a little sooner. And like I said before, he should be well rested...so as far as the big picture goes, maybe this could end up being a good thing. He's one of our key guys, and for him to be well rested might make the difference in a series.

Hmmm...so the FO will have known for over two weeks now that he won't be back before the deadline. Just interesting to consider when evaluating any moves. They won't be scrambling.

Everyone comes back from injury on time? Well I guess sometimes it's just hard to know when exactly the injury/surgery occurs...

You can see the team misses him. They are good without him but can't wait till he gets back.
When we do get him back guess what?? It will be like making a trade without giving away anyone!!!!!!

No, not everyone. Which is why I said "usually".

But, honestly, you see players come back from injuries earlier more times than you see them come back later than the initial time table.
It depends on the injury, but usually it's pretty close to what they say as far as how long a player is out.

Porter came back pretty much right on time.
