I don't care about this trade. I feel like we're slightly less annoying and will take less penalties while maintaining a similar offensive stat sheet; possibly a little more offense. I guess that's a win.

Still though, F-

I was curious about his faceoff %. Looks like decent numbers: http://faceoffs.net/player/marcel-goc
Around the 52% mark.

I think it was foxsportsmidwest.com that had an article about Goc today. Supposedly, Pitt's PK is 4th in the league and Goc was #1 on their team in PK mins. For that value alone, I'm starting to love this trade. We need a jolt on our PK.

Not that I really care but I am still puzzled by what the Penguins got from this trade. Is it possible they actually wanted Lappy?

Standing by my original take: these teams decided they wouldn't re-sign these guys (both contracts expiring) so they're getting a new player to take a look at before the end of the season. Then either one could be re-signed or allowed to walk.

I'm guessing both walk in May.

Penguins wanted a more physical presence. That's the only difference I see between these two.

I guess one thing to consider is that Lappy, who does play a physical game, is going to the East where it's more skill than strength, for the most part. That kind of player on an Eastern team like the Pens could do and mean alot to them.

Goc is more our kind of guy, skillset-wise.

To be fair, I really miss the style of play Lappy brought with him originally and miss that.

I still think we won this one hands down, though.
