Yeah, I take 'Hawks fans' pronouncements about how they were as fans before their team got good with a boulder of salt. He didn't play his career with us and was just doing mop up duty at the time to hit a personal milestone. 8 years later no one in Chicago even remembers him.dmiles2186 wrote:I understand this. Brodeur retires. Will serve as Blues Asst. G.M.

To be fair...you can't really compare Bondra to Brodeur.ecbm wrote:Yeah, I take 'Hawks fans' pronouncements about how they were as fans before their team got good with a boulder of salt. Brodeur is arguably (or not so arguably) the best goalie of all time. Bondra, while a great player, isn't even a hall of famer.
I don't think anyone is under any delusions that he has any kind of legacy in St. Louis. Why would they be? I think most folks just think it's pretty damn cool that we got to see him play a handful of games in a Blues jersey to end his career. And as far as his play was concerned, he wasn't bad...he even pitched a shutout in his last game. He played a little better than I expected he would...which makes it all the better.
