I, myself, have read a great deal of the Bible. Perhaps I'll try a different holy book next. It would be interesting to do a comparison.
^ True story. I am very familiar with this stuff even though I am not religious. I think truly understanding it is key to understanding how this country works.
JesusNEVERexisted wrote:I have read the major stories in the bible (& other scriptures too) and, unlike what many Christians tell you, it is NO different than any other scripture! A bunch of unfounded fairy tales WITHOUT any corroboration by non Christian sources.

The irony is the same reasons Christians use the dismiss other religious scriptures can also be used to dismiss the bible as well! The bible does NOT come with evidence attached to it!
It's not that I disagree with this, it's that this is a hockey forum.
You are an evangelical atheist, and that's just as bad as being an evangelical Christian.
I respect your values and views, please shut the (Frank) up about this on the hockey forum already.
If you want to float that in the OT forum, please do.

Curt, how close are we to action here? I would like to officially state that I find JNE's screen handle and his repeated thread derailments to be disruptive and offensive.

I can see why they call you FLAKE! NONE of those are first hand accounts and NONE of them saw an earthly Jesus! Your evidence is an INSCRIPTION?? LMAO! You can engrave ANY mythical being you want!

Your "evidence" is pathetic and it only further supports how Jesus is a myth and only PROMOTION & PROPOGANDA have made Jesus world famous NOT evidence!

Josephus has long been debunked as an interpolation and none of those others have an OUNCE of evidence Jesus lived. Repeating mythology is NOT historical evidence! Remember it was dmiles who brought up religion not me!

It is a thread about things to do on a 9 day break, and that is one thing you COULD do. JNE was the one who expanded on it and caused an explosion of off topic nonsense.

You could also go to confession and mass nine times.

Drive a dune buggy.
Shoot prairie dogs.
Climb a mountain.
Wrestle a bear.
Shoot the rapids.
Hike into the backcountry.
Ice fish.
Regular fish.
Snowmobile.
Jump out of a helicopter into a lake.
Build a temporary shelter out of branches and pine needles.
Survive the elements.

I don't know what to do for the other 8 days though.

No one ever wins in an atheist vs. theist debate.
“It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way.”

Actually I'm not atheist just HONEST! And yes, the honest person always wins! Christians always lose because even they admit they cannot show their god is any different than thousands of other gods! They simply have a STORY of a god just like any other religion.

A pastor I spoke to once agreed and said it is just FAITH not FACT! Why else do you think that even Christians admit their religion is dying all over the west and the influence of Christianity is at an all time low?

Whatever dude!!

According to this line of reasoning, it would be hard to prove anyone existed unless they are standing there speaking with you.
Those "inscriptions" (otherwise known to everyone else on the planet earth as historical record documents) from unbiased non-Christians prove that there was a real man named Jesus in their recent history. The Bible is another account first hand of those that saw Jesus. Historians and scribes wrote things down to capture history with ....'inscriptions'. But as with all things, documents can be forged and people can lie or mislead (even first hand accounts.)

Granted a lot of the recorded history of Jerusalem was destroyed when Rome invaded and literally burned it to the ground (along with slaughtering the vast majority of the citizenry). This fact makes it decidedly inconvenient to prove eye witness accounts without using the Bible as a historical document.

What evidence do you want? a corpse? That's not going to happen. lol. Go get someone who knew Jesus and is still actually alive today? okay.... One day you will see Jesus face to face and realize what a mistake you made. I will pray for you starting today that God may reveal himself to you and I'm sorry for what ever has caused this bitterness within you regarding Christianity and/or religion in general.

BTW, Christianity spread throughout the world because Jesus is 'The Way, The Truth and The Light of the World' for those who seek it ...not because of what you said.

Last but not least, I apologize for stirring a big stink on this forum and take full responsibility for all the crap. Your welcome Dmiles, I'll be the fall guy. lol.
