I wouldn't doubt that some things may have been said though, and if that was the case, Johnson probably deserved it. He had some discipline & attitude issues here.

Word was Al MacInnis tried to help him and he blew him off. If that's true, bad mouthing is deserved. But, I also somewhat doubt that they bad mouthed him. If it was pre-trade, bad mouthing would have done nothing but lower his value and create tension. If it was post-trade, I just don't see it. And, if it happened, it must have been whispered because I don't think it made big news.

I am happy for him that he's putting it all together now. Wish he did that here, but at least he's not a waste of talent.

If you break down the sub-components of that trade and just go based on Shattenkirk for Johnson, we win the deal by a wide margin. Getting the pick that turned into Rattie who may provide an offensive boost somewhere along the line was also nice. Colorado wasted the 1st rounder they got from the Blues. Aside from that, McClement really isn't/wasn't anything to write home about and Stewart was Stewart, so really I don't give a rats flying ass about Erik Johnson anymore. As of this point in time, the Blues won that trade and that's the bottom line.

His play has been marginal at best since the trade. For his draft slot, he's a moderate bust.

I'm glad he made the allstar game, but really, someone had to go from his team...why not him?

If you really look back at the 2006 draft, there are a lot of better routes the Blues could have gone instead of picking Johnson. Top 10 picks alone, they could have been better off taking Toews, Kessel, Backstrom or Okposo. Of course having a guy who could score with frequency instead of a defenseman who wanted to play hackysack with a golf cart could have had a profoundly negative effect on future drafts. Maybe they would have scored/won more and ended up in the wrong slot to get Pie, Rundblad (who, as we all know, directly led to Tarasenko) and Schwartz, and the entire face of the team would be dramatically different. Who knows? In any event, Johnson is an Av and I don't care one bit about him anymore. He didn't do anything positive during his time in the note, so why should I care about him during his time out of the note?
