Best Blues Games per Jersey

Post by cprice12 »

I was looking through the NHL Gamecenter Live archive and watched game #3 of the '98 Conference Quarter-Finals game between the Blues & Kings where midway through the 3rd and the Kings leading 3-0, Jamie Storr blatantly interferes with Geoff Courtnall, leading to the Blues 5 minute PP and 4 PP goals in 3 minutes to win the game 4-3.

Anyway, that got me thinking...we've all seen the "best Blues games..." list, but what about best game per jersey?

That Blues-Kings game has to be up there for the clown jerseys.

Here's a few screen captures:

Where Storr should have been standing and the Kings probably would have won the game:

From our 'Apron Strings' years, I'd nominate Blues/Bruins on MLK Day 2009. This was the game that started that insane run down the stretch from 14th in the West (or whatever it was) to 6th by season's end.

Obviously the 5 goal comeback v. Toronto. I can't believe how long ago that was. Feels like yesterday.

And that game wasn't on tv in St. Louis. I had to find a stream online and it was pretty choppy.

Great game.

'67-'84(I know there were minor differences between some years, but they all looked pretty similar): Game 5 vs Pens in '81, Steen's overtime goal wins series
BLUES: Monday Night Miracle
Hull/Oates era: when we swept Chicago in '93 as heavy underdogs and Belfour flipped his lid
Clowns: Game 3 vs LA in '98 when Courtnall demolished Storr.
Y2Ks: Game 3 against Colorado in '01 when we were down 3-0 and came back to win in double OT
Apron Strings: Game 5 against the sharks in '12 when we won on two late 3rd period goals to win our first series in a decade

Still an all-time favorite. The image of Belfour smashing his stick on the back of the goal after Janney (?) scored the GWG while Hull interfered with him will always stick with me. Good times!

My memory thinks it was a 2OT goal by Mike Crombeen...but I could be wrong.

Shit you're right. Steen's dad never even played for us, I don't know what I was thinking. In my defense it was 9 years before I was born.

I was trying to wrap my head around that one. Figured I was going crazy or something, Tomas spent his entire career with the Jets, no?
