We used to have a guy in Peoria who would post on the board about the goings on in Peoria...but that doesn't really help us much now.

Did you know the wolves just signed Ben Eager?

I think he takes lots of shots because people feed him the puck. He's supposed to be a sniper, not a playmaker. I'd rather he took lots of shots than tried to make too many moves and give up odd man rushes the other way...

15% going in is about right for a top line sniper.

Tank is about 17% right now...Kane is about 15% atm. Seguin and Nash are over 19% atm... unsustainably high. Ovechkin is an abnormally low >10%. /shrug.

It suggests he is a goal scorer.

On topic:

We need to roundly beat the Kings again. Step on them when they are down to keep them there.

I saw that pass Ott fed to Tarasenko. I guess he's not the worst choice. Maybe Tarasenko can feed Ott a wide open pass and see if his shot can have eyes.

Are we thinking of the same Ben Eager who has something like 40 or so career goals in over 400 games played?

His job is to park his ass in front of the net and screen the goalie tonight. That's it.

If he's lucky, he'll take a slapper off his noggin and deflect it past Quick. I'm calling it now, Ott scores at least one goal tonight.

On the topic of Ott, DMiles I believe said that Ott once scored 20 goals in a season. I couldn't believe it, so I checked to verify and in fact he had 5 straight seasons of 10 or more goals, he has 103 career tallies and somehow was considered talented enough to be a 1st round pick. Where is that Steve Ott and what has this one done with him? I'd take 10 goals, that's better than the slop we've gotten from this over-paid do nothing so far. Heck, I'd take 5 goals from him.

It defies logic and yet it's all true.

Teh hockey gods do not want the Blues to win tonight. After those 1st three goals, I have lost count of the number of times pucks seeming bounced away from Blues sticks for no apparent reason and stick to Kings sticks like glue. Then add in that ridiculous bounce on the 6th goal.... It's the hockey gods.

2 points is fine in a home and home against those jabronis. Hopefully we can win when it really counts, in the playoffs.

Well that really sucks.

Interestingly, the Kings did to the Blues on the west coast exactly what the Blues did to the Islanders on the east coast.

Drew Doughty is a wizard and an absolute horse. 34+ minutes of ice time, doesn't take big contact, and skates like his stamina is everlasting. Pietrangelo better get on his level. The skill is there...we've seen it. We know he can log big minutes. But between his perfect screen of his own goaltender and getting dumped on his ass with ease multiple times a game, 27 has played like absolute horseshit. He is really a major letdown considering what we've seen from him in the past:

I like the moxie in this team otherwise. LA came out like the villains they are and showed some of that Stanley Cup psyche we've seen all too often from them. I like the chirping from the benches and the big hits. I'd love to see these guys in a 7 game series again with the Blues' roster intact (although Jaskin pulled his weight tonight). This matchup is a damn good time.

Also, get well soon Brian Elliott.

This one sucks.

Up 3-0 and to blow it sucks.

LA's fans suck.

If this becomes a turning point game for the Kings, that sucks.

I don't like to blame the refs but some of those calls that resulted in goals sucked.

That weird freakin bounce sucked.

I don't really blame Brodeur for this one, but Elliott being injured sucks.

Schwartz being injured sucks.

Ott sucks.

I had to watch the LA feed and those announcers sucked.

Playing on the west coast and playing late games sucks.

On the bright side, the Blues scored goals and didn't just cave like we've seen vs. these guys in the past. We need to beat SJ on Saturday.

On the post game show they said it's the 9th time this year the Blues have a blown a lead of 2 goals or more. Didn't think it was that many!

Overall thoughts on the Brodeur experiment?

I only got to listen to the first half of the first period last night on XM radio before I called it a night. When I saw the final score it sounded to me like Brodeur got shelled. His stats with us so far are pretty mediocre/average, so... For those that have seen more of him in net than me, what's the deal?

I picked up Marion Gaborik in my fantasy league on Monday. He's tearing it up for me! 4 g, 1 a in 2 games. Unfortunately, that's all come against the Blues.

The Kings took that game over.

Sucks to piss away a lead like that.

9 times in 30 games? omg that's really, really bad. IDK what's going on with that, but it's not typical of teams coached by Hitch. That's what needs to get fixed.

If we score 4 goals and lose the game something is terribly wrong, imo - but looks like we have only lost one or two of them when we score that much, which happens sometimes. This one just seems to hurt more because of how it all happened.

I get that the puck was bouncing, but that was an ugly goal. Fluky..and ugly.

I'll tell you the deal:

Dude is a fossil. That's the deal.

Dude wants to get to 700 wins, but he's gonna get to 400 losses first, if he even reaches 700 wins at all.

No way to tell if Allen would have fared better, but probably. I'm just taking the blame for this one, my punishment for making fun of the Islanders for having the same thing happen to them. The hockey gods are expressing their displeasure with me and exacting karmic revenge. Message received, let's move on.

The late game sucked. Blues were great in the first but by the middle of the second it was obvious that it was a late night for the Blues. I think the same goes for Brodeur. I would seriously considering minimizing his playing time in late west coast games. At 40 it's just tough to stay awake that late, no matter what adrenaline is going through your body.

There's an 85 year old who played in a competitive game up in Canada recently. Brodeur has no excuse. Maybe his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of his sister in law.... :ninja:
