If a contract year can't motivate him, he's a lost cause. What a disappointment as a player. Started out so well and just kept going down, down, down. Thought Nolan's quote on that article was perfect: "Can't have power forwards playing a soft game."

Very surprised by his time in Buffalo.

I know he had that bad luck with the injury right after he got to Buffalo but I had thought he'd be a reliable player for that group and you know he'd be playing all the minutes he could handle if he's producing.

Quite the shame. Really.

I just hoped that 2011 first round pick we gave up wouldn't come back to haunt us. The Avs used it to pick Duncan Siemans and he's still developing (toiling?) in the AHL so who knows. Time will tell I guess.

Shatty has been hands down the best player of the group since the trade though, I think we can all agree on that.

Hard to not feel sorry for the guy. Loved Stewart when he was at his potential. He'll probably end up leaving the NHL and signing in the swiss league or SHL like so many players in his situation do.
“It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way.”

I haven't watched him much since the trade but I'm not real sympathetic. His problem has always been taking instruction and effort. He's got tons of talent and never has gotten seriously hurt. A damn shame for hockey though, for sure.

One of the sickest backhand shots in the NHL.

And his physicality and fighting ability. That's how I'll remember the Chris Stewart area

I'll remember Chris Stewart for:

- Lazy play.
- Supposedly being a power forward, but shying away from contact.
- Not driving to the net.
- Being absolutely invisible on the ice for 20 games, then scoring 3 goals in 2 games and getting everyone's hopes up, then goes invisible for another 20 games.
- Constantly saying in interviews that he needs to be better...but never got better.
- Getting too much playing time.

He did send Kronwall headfirst into the boards on a hit from behind a few years ago, which resulted in a suspension. That was about the beset thing he did that year because... 1) It was against a Red Wing... 2) It got him out of the lineup.

++

Kept saying this when he was here, even when he would have a good 3-5 games stretch. The hype on Stewart after the loss to the Kings was ridiculous.

My brother and I joked about that a lot by the end of his tenure. Yeah Chris, the way things are going you're going to be saying that to the guy next to you at the bar while you watch NHL games instead of playing in them. And we were so ready to root for a guy we could call "Stewie"...

Was at that Red Wing game. Best 1-0 game Evah. Blues had like 32 PK's that game!
