The Bruins and St. Louis Blues have been rumored trade partners lately. Blues beat writer Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch fanned those flames a little on Thursday, and threw Milan Lucic's name into the mix, in his on-line chat with fans.

Here's a portion:

As people who read my coverage know, I don't get into rumors often. But when I believe there is something brewing behind the scenes, I don't have a problem touching on it. There has been plenty of speculation involving the Blues and Bruins and believe there is definitely something being discussed. Doug Armstrong had a credential waiting for him last night [Wednesday] in Minnesota, where the Bruins playing. He was not there (he's with the Blues in LA), but the fact that he was credentialed leads you to believe he had intentions of being there. The NHL holiday trade freeze begins tomorrow and I don't expect anything to happen before then. But I will continue to monitor this after the freeze lifts Dec. 27. I've mentioned previously that I am hearing the names of one or two top-six forward being dealt by the Blues. I would not be surprised if one or more of the names you mentioned are involved. As far as what the Blues could get in return, I keep hearing Milan Lucic's name possibly being moved out of Boston.

Rutherford later posted that Blues GM Doug Armstrong didn't expect his team to be "overly active" in trades. So, there's that.

Lucic is the definition of inconsistent. However, if it's Lucic for Berglud, ok.

That won't happen. Lucic has a $6M cap hit. We don't have room even with Berglund's departing salary. I guess we could do a Berglund + Ott move or something and keep Jaskin up. I doubt that happens though.

I can't see them trading him unless we get a lot in return.

I just got a home jersey of his this year as well...so yeah, it would be nice for them not to trade him for a while.

I can guarantee he gets traded inside of the next 2 months, which is why I'm trying to steer around my jersey jinx by getting the USA instead of the Blues jersey. He can't be traded to Team Canada.

cprice12 wrote:You see the "luck factor" come into play with the Cardinals a lot in the MLB playoffs. They've had great teams and great chemistry, but man if they don't seem to have lady luck on their side quite often.
I don't disagree. I see something else when I watch the Cardinals in the playoffs as well-a team of guys whose confidence and belief in themselves seems to get a boost from the jerseys they wear. Here in my new home, I've seen that from the Yankees (not in the last couple seasons). I definitely see it from the Blackhawks and Kings and the Red Wings have shown it in the past. I'm hoping the Blues can get there but first, certain individuals need to push through to some sort of accomplishment for this club. Even just a few playoff rounds won-create a culture where it's expected and everyone believes it can happen. Sometimes a transplant can help with that. Just ask anyone on the Avalanche roster on December 5, 1995-an already very-talented team with a lot of ambition of which Jocelyn Thibault, Martin Rucinsky and Andrei Kovalenko were/were to be integral parts. Maybe we can get that from Boston. We'll see.

This should kill the trade rumours...
Lindbohm article wrote:Originally thought to be nearing a return, Gunnarsson was sent back to St. Louis after experiencing further concussion symptoms. Barring a quick recovery, Lindbohm will likely be recalled after the freeze lifts. At the same time, it appears that Armtrong’s preseason reads were spot on.

“The push is going to come from underneath, not from outside,” Armstrong on the same day the final roster cuts were announced. “I think we have a little more depth now where if we need a player right now, we can address it from within.”

Except apparently if our #1 goalie gets hurt.

That's Army's poker face, make no mistake. Not saying they're going to make a move for sure but with 1/2 of the top 4 D either grossly underperforming or out indefinitely with a concussion it would be straightforwardly irresponsible for him not even to look into the available options.

Yeah, I would take anything any GM says with a grain of salt.

Things can change quiet quickly based on performance, injuries and what we may be offered.

I guess from a marketing standpoint Tarasenko does has enough of a "Squeeee!!!!!!" factor to make Oshie expendable.
