BLUES (13-6-1) at JETS (10-8-3)

TV: TVA, TSN3, FS-MW

Season series: The St. Louis Blues won four of five games against the Winnipeg Jets last season; four were one-goal games. Six Blues had four or more points.

Blues team scope: St. Louis ends a four-game road trip. The Blues ended a two-game losing streak with a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Goaltender Brian Elliott had 24 saves. Elliott and Jake Allen have been rotating goaltending duties, so Allen is the likely starter. He allowed four goals on 30 shots Thursday in a 4-1 loss at the Montreal Canadiens. The Blues had a healthy roster going into the game Saturday, but defenseman Jay Bouwmeester left in the third period. Coach Ken Hitchcock said he will see how Bouwmeester feels Sunday, according to the Blues website. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko scored against Ottawa and ranks third in the NHL with 12 goals in 20 games. Tarasenko had 21 goals in 64 games last season. Jori Lehtera centers Tarasenko’s line and has eight assists in his past 10 games. The Blues return home Tuesday to play Ottawa.

Jets team scope: Winnipeg practiced Saturday after a day off Friday. This game will end a three-game homestand for the Jets, who have played nine of their past 13 games on the road and begin another trip Tuesday. Defenseman Toby Enstrom did not skate Saturday but he will play. Coach Paul Maurice did not name his starting goaltender, but Michael Hutchinson and Ondrej Pavelec have alternated starts in the past three games. Pavelec started a 4-3 loss Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings. The Jets have one power-play goal in their past 28 opportunities and have not scored in their past 22 power plays. The Winnipeg power play ranks 29th in the NHL. The recently assembled line of left wing Adam Lowry, center Mark Scheifele and right wing Michael Frolik has three goals in its past two games.

I take full responsibility for the recent poor play. I dug up the game 6 gdt to point out how our negativity turned around immediately after that game and to make light of nyghtewyndes regularly scheduled doom and gloom. The hockey gods frowned upon me drawing attention to the turnaround and put me in my place, as a result. I appealed to the hockey gods for forgiveness, but it was in vain after losing to Montreal. I don't know if yesterday was a pardon for my foolish decision, so I'll continue appealing to them as long as necessary. Rest assured I'm on it.

This is one of the rare times the Blues play at the same time as another St.Louis pro team. The Rams play the Chargers at the exact same time.

Will you lecture us on how the Rams will kill the Blues ratings wise? It's your M.O.

It would be cool if we could just put him on the third pairing and limit his ice time. But I would'nt want him to get hurt worse and I kinda want to see Butler.

I vividly recall mentioning Bouwmeesters ironman streak as a reason to trade him now for cap room. Now he's not playing. Streak over. Injuries were bound to happen eventually. Tis not a passive sport he plays, and ironman streaks in hockey can't possibly last forever.

Also, Allen with the assist! He's officially almost as offensively productive as Ott.

Big win, nice recovery from the duds in Boston and Montreal. Let's put those two shitholes behind us and press on.

I missed chunks of this game but it seemed like the guys played a good, workman-like road game, especially on the tail end of a back to back. Nice to bounce back after those first two. Hopefully they'll keep it up at home.

This might be my most boring post ever, and that's saying something...I post a lot of boring stuff.

Here's something interesting- with this game, we are officially 25% into the regular season. Not too bad of a start, I would say: 1st place in the Central (though Nashville has a game in hand), goaltending has been good, offense has been good (albeit not as distributed as we may wish). In my opinion, defense (surprisingly) is our biggest area for improvement, and it's not even that bad.

I didn't think Butler looked very good.
Took a dumb penalty and coughed the puck up a few times.

He wasn't great. Probably nerves. But he didn't do what Cole and Shatty did in the prior games, and that's a huge plus in my book. Plus the dude went face-first into the boards pretty hard and shook-shook---shook it off.

I see what you did there.
