BLUES (12-5-1) at CANADIENS (14-5-1)
TV: FS-MW, RDS, CITYM
Season series: The St. Louis Blues swept two games from the Montreal Canadiens a season ago, including a 5-1 victory at Scottrade Center in the last meeting on Dec. 19, 2013, behind two goals from Alexander Steen. The Blues have won five straight games against the Canadiens and have not lost to Montreal in regulation since the 2006-07 season. The Blues have won the past four meetings in Montreal going back to the 2003-04 season.
Blues team scope: The Blues, who had won 10 of 11 games, started a four-game road trip Tuesday by losing to the Boston Bruins 2-0 despite outshooting them 33-17. The Blues fell to 4-2-1 on the road this season, but they have been shut out in all three losses.
"I just think they kept us on the perimeter all night," coach Ken Hitchcock said of the Bruins. "I know we had a lot of shots on goal, but we weren't really a threat. … I think in style points, it looked probably like we were playing good, but there was no detail in doing the hard things that you have to on the road to score."
Goalie Jake Allen, second in the NHL in goals-against average (1.67), will get the start.
Canadiens team scope: The Canadiens were on fire, riding a six-game winning streak (outscoring their opponents 23-7) that was quickly doused by a 4-0 shutout loss on home ice Tuesday to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"It reminds you that you have to be humble," coach Michel Therrien said. "We still have a lot of work in front of us if we want to compare ourselves with big teams like that. … It's a huge challenge (facing the Blues). This is a quality hockey team. For us, it's going to be another challenge."
Despite the loss to Pittsburgh, the Canadiens lead the NHL with 29 points (14-5-1).
Goalie Carey Price is expected to get the start, which would be his 17th of the season

Montreal is the #1 team in the League right now- came as a bit of shock to me when I looked at the standings this morning. Looks like we have our work cut out for us.
2 points, please.

I expect a better performance than they had against Boston.

Montreal is a very good team, even for an eastern conference club. I was worried about this one before, I'm still worried about this one. The only thing that kind of comforts me is that I don't think our guys let themselves get shutout again. If they come out hungry, they'll win. All depends on the start.

GOD. BLESS. AMERICA. That was frustrating to watch.
First two goals aren't on Allen. Numbers 3 and 4 I felt he should have had, but regardless, we JUST. CAN'T. FINISH.
Somebody appease teh hockey gods so some of these scoring chances start going in.

Damn, the Habs are for real.
The Stanley Cup hasn't been awarded north of the border since 93. This year that drought may end.

All I know is that Jay Bouwmeester is my favorite player for post game interviews. He's wonderfully awkward. I guess it's because I can relate; I'd be just like that.

Another rough game. We used to beat up on the East but the last two haven't been pretty. Both games, the slide started when one of our D-men decided to just give away the puck in front of our own net (Thanks Shatty!).
It was another frustrating game, but it's only 2 in a row. In fact, I'm okay with some adversity early on. Last season seemed to come a little too easily before it all came crashing down. Some bumps in the road are not bad. Teams can't win 'em all, so might as well get some L's early and snap the fellas out of it.
