BLUES (12-4-1) at BRUINS (11-8-0)
TV: TVA, FS-MW, NESN
Season series: The St. Louis Blues swept the season series from the Boston Bruins last season, with each game going past regulation. The Blues won 3-2 on an overtime winner from T.J. Oshie when the teams last played in St. Louis on Feb. 6. The Blues have won the past six meetings in Boston going back to the 2000-01 season.
Blues team scope: The Blues have won 10 of 11 games and are coming off a 4-1-0 homestand that culminated with a 4-1 victory against the Washington Capitals on Saturday. David Backes, Patrik Berglund and Jaden Schwartz each had a goal and an assist.
"They seem well-grounded," Associate Coach Brad Shaw said of the Blues. "You can probably point to the leadership in the room to that, keeping guys in check and making sure everything is above the team and everything is about the long journey that we're on here," Shaw said.
Goalies Jake Allen (1.67) and Brian Elliott (1.87) are Nos. 1 and 2 respectively in the NHL in goals-against average, and both are in the top five in save percentage.
Bruins team scope: The Bruins bounced back with a 2-1 victory Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes after back-to-back losses on the road to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens, where Boston was outscored 11-2. Patrice Bergeron's goal with 50 seconds remaining in the first period proved to be the difference.
Center David Krejci, who has missed the past four games with an undisclosed injury, practiced with teammates Monday for the first time since his last game on Nov. 6.
Defenseman Kevan Miller, out since Oct. 18 with a dislocated shoulder, is a "game-time decision," coach Claude Julien said via the team's Twitter account.
Forward Brad Marchand, who left early in the third period Saturday, did not practice Monday, but Julien said he was "probable."

I hate it when they point out the Blues have won the past X number of games against team Y going back to year Z. The law of averages has to come into play at some point.
Whatever. At least game time is a little more palatable to my schedule. Two points, please.

We need to win this so that I don't have to endure endless shit talking from my good friend who is a Bruins fan until the next time we play them.

Thus far the results don't look so hot. Start getting some pucks past Rask, please.

ESPN thinks Rask is going to be the top performer in net for the league this year...and Elliot is going to be worse than everyone not named Craig Anderson.
No, really, he's 24th of the 25 goalies on their list, lol.

Wow, the Bs were able to shut down the hottest line in hockey! The STL line.

Thanks for specifying. I thought you meant the Steen line.JesusNEVERexisted wrote:Wow, the Bs were able to shut down the hottest line in hockey! The STL line.

Rask was a brick wall last night.
Ian Cole: PERFECT goal mouth feed....just to the wrong team. All downhill from there.
Even though the Blues mounted an attempted comeback, just couldn't do it. Oh well, on to Montreal.

From what I got to watch, it seemed like we were in pretty good control in the 3rd period. Prior to that, we looked out-of-sync. Just couldn't get anything past Rask.dmiles2186 wrote:Rask was a brick wall last night.

The Bruins just didn't give the Blues much room to work. They covered them very well. Haven't seen any team do that so well to the Blues all year except maybe Vancouver.

Re: GDT #18: 11/18/14 | 6:00PM CST | @ Bruins | FSMW/KMOX
What I've gathered from the Blues losses is that it usually comes down to:
1) mistakes by our own guys
2) opposing goalie standing on his head.
I don't mean to take away from Bruins, but both of those happened last night. We had our chances but couldn't solve Rask. If you watched the game between the goals we actually outplayed them for most of it. These losses are different from just getting shelled and looking like total crap. They rarely seem to lose like that, which is encouraging. I don't like them any more than other losses but they're at least a bit easier to accept.
Cole needs to get it together. The only time I notice him is when he's doing something silly like coughing up a puck or making an errant pass. I know they said this was Cole's time to show what he's got, but I gotta be honest...I haven't been all that impressed. Hopefully he's just getting the kinks worked out and he'll settle in, but he makes me nervous right now.
I know that you could put some blame for that one on Elliott, but I don't think this one was his fault.
