Season series: This is the first of two games between the Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues. The Blues swept the set last season, winning the most-recent game 2-1 on April 3.

Sabres team scope: The Sabres begin a two-game road swing that concludes against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Buffalo is winless in three straight (0-2-1) and has the fewest points in the League (eight).

The Sabres have scored 20 goals on the season, tied for the fewest in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, who have played four fewer games. The Sabres have scored two or fewer goals in 15 of 16 games this season.

"You run out of words," a frustrated Sabres coach Ted Nolan told reporters after a 6-1 home loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. "... Our fans pay good money to watch us play, or at least compete and perform for that if there's nothing else. We've got to find a way; we've got to keep searching for it."

Blues team scope: The Blues tied the Anaheim Ducks for the longest winning streak in the NHL this season with seven but had their streak snapped with a 2-1 loss Saturday to the Nashville Predators.

Tuesday will be the third of a five-game homestand for the Blues, who finished last week against the Predators with their fourth game in six nights.

T.J. Oshie (concussion) took part in a full practice Monday with the Blues.

"I was shocked that he stayed there the whole time," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said of Oshie. "... I don't know how he's feeling. I didn't get into what the trainers talked about. They told us he was going to stay for whatever he could and then he ended up staying right to the bitter end, which is a good sign."

I'm glad Oshie is participating in full practice, but I wouldn't rush him back for tonight if he's not 100% ready. It's only the Sabres.

I didn't even realize Oshie was skating again. For some reason, I had him marked as being out for a really long time. Obviously don't rush him back, but this seems like a good sign.

Ideally this game should be a wicked blowout with everyone padding their offensives stats. But I'm afraid they'll lose big because they look past Buffalo and spend the night thinking about revenge on Nashville for a game that already happened.

Well, that's not a bad consolation prize and makes the season have some sort of purpose...I guess. If we were in their position I'd be doing the same thing. Of course, they have to make it through the newly modified lottery as well. If it were us, we'd take dead last and end up with whatever is the crappiest pick a last place finishing team can get (I don't really understand the details of the lottery, it seems rigged to me ).

Speaking of McDavid, he injured his hand tonight. OOOOMMMGGGGGGG!

They dumped Jackman and got no call, Cole dumped Ennis shortly after (and of course got a penalty), Ennis decided to fight with Steen and everyone else fought everyone else. Then Steen got into it later with someone else for some reason, Stewart tried to fight Carl, Weber tried to snap Steen's neck, some douche speared Tarasenko and we said, "screw you guys" and scored a cornucopia of goals on the 5 min PP.

It was so refreshing to see Blues score 3 on a single PP. The main frustration last few seasons was their inability to convert. Well, convert they did.
