How do we play?

It's fantasy hockey.

You draft your team in the live draft.
You can make trades with other GMs.
You can drop and add players from/to the undrafted/waiver list.

Every week your team goes up against another team for better stats in several categories.

There is a playoff at the end of the year to determine a champion.

I'm sure there is more to it, but you'll get the idea.

I take on Fred's Gators in the first game. So basically we draft players and whoever's players score the most points in the NHL or play the best in goal get the most points right? And whoever gets the most points wins the game right?

I've heard about them but never cared before. Hockey is my favorite sport so I thought I'd try it. You honestly don't think 100% of all guys do fantasy sports do you?

Someone can have my spot, I'm already in another league and I typically like to only do one hockey league per season. If it's getting close to draft time and you still don't have anyone else, I can sign up if needed.

You have to skate around town on roller blades with a duck call, herding up all of your players so you can take on Iceland.

If you are in the live draft, then you get to select your players.
If you are not in the draft, it will choose the next player available on your pre-ranked player list, as long as you need a player of that position.

Is this an actual question or are you being deliberately dense? It's a draft. You choose players in a draft, you aren't randomly assigned a roster. If you were randomly assigned players, what would be the point of participating in a draft?

I've never done any fantasy sports so this was my first time. It was cool!

It is conceivable a fantasy sports league could just assign players randomly instead of letting you select.
