ST. LOUIS - The Blues have invited unrestricted free agent forward Paul Bissonnette to a tryout at training camp.

Bissonnette, 29, has played in 202 career NHL games, registering seven goals and 15 assists (22 points). He has a plus-7 rating and 340 career penalty minutes.

Bissonnette spent the past five seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes. He made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2008-09 season.

The Blues begin training camp on Friday. The first practice open to the public is Saturday at 1 p.m. at Scottrade Center. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

He's not a pansy, so goon will love him, and we will win the Stanley Cup?

I mean, it's a camp tryout. Nothing special. If he's here? He's depth and he can beat people up. If not? I still follow him on Twitter.

I honestly don't even know much about this guy other than he's mostly famous for his tweets. He also had one of the most epic Ice Bucket Challenge videos. None of these things really relate to playing hockey though, and that is where my knowledge of him drops off. Would he be sort of in the Reed Low category?

I'm not totally against this if he is actually good at beating people down. Beyond Reaves, we don't have much else anymore. Ott and Lappy can scrap if they need to but they aren't that feared type of fighter. We really do need these types of guys when we're up against the scrappier teams. A little bit of fear into the opponent, just by the presence of a tough guy, can make a big difference. That's why you can't just have a lineup full of finesse players. You'd get annihilated.

Hell, Reaves all but disappearred in the later half of the season. I think he only got into 1 or 2 fights after he got his new contract. I'm especially pissed at him for not rearranging Seabrook's face in the playoffs as well. I was going to buy his jersey, but now I'm not so sure.

From what I know of him, he's a guy that ain't afraid to fight anyone, has size and physicality to and really nothing else going for him other than that, so....a goon.

I don't know if I'd want him eating up a roster spot unless we're going against a team that we may need someone's head knocked in. Seabrook. Thornton. Some others come to mind. Can Gunner fight?

Nah, that only applies to non hockey sports. Bison won't do anything for us except maybe rack up some PIMs and you guys know it.

He most likely won't even make the team.
