Great deal for the team. I think he's worth more than what he got.

Schwartz (JS) is a great player, but he had too many things going against him to get a better contract. Some of these points seem obvious..

1) JS was an RFA.
2) JS had his first Entry Level year contract burned by the Blues to sit in the box before the playoffs started. He played 7 regular season games, didn't play in the playoffs
3) The Blues just don't have much capspace for him to ask for anything larger
4) No team had offered him a contract he wanted to sign at this point
5) If he sat out, he'd be making no money.
6) If he sat out, someone else might have taken a roster spot.
7) The Blues would likely have had to trade someone to sign him longer, and hurt the team. Possibly Leopold.
8.) Pressure from teammates to sign (I avoided the 8) smiley!)
9) JS might now be tabbed by GM DA as a player he "owes".
10) When his contract expires, the Blues will have a projected $28m in cap space, and will have had to resign Backes,Tarasenko, Jackman, and Allen by then. The Blues can afford a bigger contract for JS.
11) JS is really a good player who gets a lot of opportunities. He needs to start finishing more, to get those big dollars.
12) He gets to play with Stastny and VT!

I get all of that. I don't know hockey stats well enough to know how to do this, but I'm sure there's a way to measure production per dollar kinda like WAR/$ would do in baseball. And, I suspect this deal will prove to be club-friendly even after adjusting for young players not getting paid as much as players that have hit the UFA market.

Great signing. I give Armstrong credit for sticking to his guns and getting a bargain and Schwartz can say he didn't take the first offer. Everyone's happy.

As for the Berglund comments earlier-I remember when he was drafted. He had so much upside. I don't actually take joy in watching any fellow human being struggle and/or fail (ok, maybe a select few). I just don't think he's cut out to play in NA. Scouts saw his size, skating and hands and thought: high ceiling, worth a shot. But he's a timid forward in the NHL, which really sticks out because of his size. He might be well-advised to take the Lindstrom route but then, some suckas in the NHL decided to give him $3.6M per...I wouldn't turn that down either.

JesusNEVERexisted is totally correct... Jesus never existed.

On a hockey note he also happens to be right about Schwartz being non-existent during the playoffs. Tarasenko did some stuff. Schwartz did jack.

In a related story, blaming idiocy on a typo is weak.

A lot of people didn't do much offensively. Same could be said for the Hawks until the last game.
It was a pretty defensive series.

Idiocy is never just because of a typo.

Not sure if the last sentence was directed at me or JNE, but I stand by the fact that there is a level of irony in using bad grammar (typo or otherwise) while insulting somebody else's intelligence. It's akin to the "moran" meme.

Has anyone ever seen goon and JNE in the same place at the same time?!
