Now would be a really good time to fire Hitch.

Why do you guys say that? Who would replace him? Oatsie? Bylsma? Hullie? Gretzky?

I would take Bylsma is a second. Imagine what kind of production he could squeeze out of Tarasenko and Schwartz, plus add another offensive chip or two and provide him with a REAL goalie.

Well, they each won a Cup but Hitch has more appearances and more overall wins. Bylsma isn't a bad choice but look at the history of Blues coaching. We have had hall of fame coaches who couldn't win a Cup here!

I like Bylsma, but here's a guy who took over a team halfway through the season and won a Cup. Since then, he's had a roster with two of the best players in the league and they've not sniffed the Cup finals since. His Team USA crumbled in the bronze medal game. I just don't think he's the savior that he's portrayed to be.

Now, if we still had Davis Payne or Andy Murray, I'd take him in a heartbeat. But firing Hitch to get him? Not sure I'd do it. I mean, what if you fire Hitch and Bylsma gets hired elsewhere? Then we'd all be hearing how Armstrong is THE WORST.

Armstrong has talked about having a top 5 replacements list for everything. Top 5 coaches, etc. I'm sure Bylsma will make that list, perhaps top it. But, that's a next season thing, not an offseason thing.

But by then Bylsma will likely be with another team.

The point is to get him you need to act quick. If you wait till 2015 then he'll likely be with someone else.

Not doing anything is acting if there is a conscious decision involved.

This guy is such a good coach, the fact that his team was always so good even with Letang, Geno, Crosby injured; he still put out a great team just makes him so valuable.
The fact that he couldn't get past the 2nd round with all the above players is a little sucky though.

Rutherford must be really trying to shake things up, and I wonder if Geno is on the market now?

I was thinking that too, the only thing that bugs me is how much should we discount due to Pens playing in the East? I didn't really look at stats vs. the top teams yet or the west for that matter during the span that their top guns were injured, just posing it as a general question.
