Just saw this. One year deal I'm seeing on TSN. Correct?

I like it. Next playoffs make some noise or bust.

Make some noise or bust indeed. That sound you hear is a window closing.

This sounds like a do or die extension to me. I don't know exactly how to define "do," but it involves more than 4 playoff wins.

The offensive preparations guy and the goaltending coach are gone, lol.

I'll be interested to see who they get to fill the offensive part of it. Make a splash and get some kind of evil genius no one knows about, please.

I wouldn't be shocked to know that the goalie coach walked due to management of players... Bishop being an all star, trading halak, miller as a flameout, Elliot not under contract... etc.

I have this to say about Corey Hirsch: He's a riot on twitter, but he doesn't reply to any serious comments or questions. In the past, the only times he's ever replied to or in any way commented on anything I've said it's been thoroughly unrelated to hockey. I wonder, honestly, how much he truly cared about his role. A new goalie coach is definitely a great idea.

glad to see 2 for the playoffs on the power play got somebody fired.

If the Blues hire a goaltending coach before signing a goalie, it may give some insight in the direction they intend to go. Not sure that the Wolves guy looks like he's ready for prime time.

This boils down to the fact that there's no one better to replace him.

Anyone know about how much Hitch makes per season?

Please. If the Blues were planning to replace Hitch they would have fired him after the game 6/period 3 meltdown. They could have gotten Trotz, Laviolette, Tortorella (ok I'm kidding on that one, though technically they COULD have), or any number of current assistants. It's not that there was no one better to replace him, it's that they didn't intend to replace him.

Bingo.
It didn't matter how they faired in the playoffs...Hitch wasn't being replaced in the offseason. Not a chance. Same with Armstrong.

I couldn't see them firing either/or without giving them an opportunity to adjust the team. Netminding and PP was the issue, bingo, those coaches got fired. If they bring in new blood and they still can't get the job done, Hitch might be toast. I'm on the "Sign scoring" side of the verse because I feel Hitch lacks a few elites like he had on Dallas when they won the Cup, at the very least let's give him the right tools to win and see what happens. Between the two, imho, Army is the one that's furniture, provided he starts drafting forwards and centers.

Another 1st round flameout and both of them are gone. As far as retooling goes, it also involves shaking up the rest of the coaching staff though. Who will be replacing Agnew and Hirsch is a very important point of interest. Especially, I think, who will be replacing Agnew.

It is really baffling how many people want to replace Hitch and Armstrong. Changes are needed, but get real. We had a massive rash of injuries and ended up drawing the defending champs. I know, I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANY EXCUSES, but the people that should be fired have been. The only outstanding question I have is, is there anyone responsible for their fitness/endurance - THAT person probably needs to be looked at as well, because >=8 injuries in like 2 weeks is rather insane.

Fitness and endurance had little to do with those injuries.
Just bad luck and dirty hits.
Oshie took a dirty hit to the head.
Tarasenko's injury was just bad luck...a check behind the goal that jammed his hand in the final seconds of a game.
Seabrook's hit was dirty on Backes.
Etc...I don't feel like looking up the other injuries as they are escaping me at the moment. But you get the idea. Maybe fatigue played a small part in some of them, but that's hard to tell...and certainly not a main contributor by any means.

I'd be inclined to agree with you...but it might depend on the circumstances as well and how the team looks. But yeah, I think the 1 year contract that Hitch signed pretty much implies he needs to get it done this year or we're going to go a different direction with the head coach.
