giving credit where credit is due
great pass by Ott
Steen Mr O.T. ? highest percentage of playoff goals in OT in career ?
solid game by Cracknell and Porter - maybe we can rename the CPR line the Shane Robinson line -- only get to play in the playoffs

Great win, I had my doubts especially in the first OT as I thought we were outplayed for long stretches, Kinda of a strange feeling though: I went for a couple of hours of sleep before the game, woke up 2.00 am local time to watch the game, sat through five periods of nail biting hockey, just to miss out on the goal because the channel who showed the game didn't cut back to the game until after the goal. One second I'm watching some commercial, next second I see all the Blues on the ice celebrating. So I'm in a weird place right now. Happy and irritated. And tired.

Oh, and there the Avs scored the game winner. Too bad.

The best part of the game: all of those red jerseys quietly walking up the stairs while the arena goes insane.

Ott has been shredded crap for his entire time in the Bluenote, but that final pass was a work of art.

Miller really settled down. He was not spectacular tonight, but he became what he needed to be for the next five periods.

What a turnaround...from this to the Saturday AFTERNOON game. The team that recovers their legs the fastest wins game 2.

Well, the fellas know they can take a punch and stay in the fight. They also know they can win.

I really think having a contest like this will only help them believe more.

You hear talk about "learning" how to win in the playoffs. I feel like this was a good lesson. They started fast got behind came back and held tight in ot...and this was just the first franking game.

I gained a lot of respect for Lapierre tonight.
Tarasenko is still a God.

It's difficult to overstate how huge of a win this was. If we battled all that way and didn't win this game... I don't know.

One of the wildest first periods to open a playoff series that I've ever seen followed by a lockdown defense that surrendered zero goals in 4+ periods of play.

All that angst about the losing streak and the poor ending to the regular season? GONE.

Love it. I'm on cloud 9 right now.

What a game! After all these worries before game one, the blues showed a great performance. Tarasenko again shows, that he can be a difference maker in this team. Also Schwartz showed that he can be a guy to relie on.
But one thing, you could see that backes isn't 100% but other guys stepped up. A really good sign!
Save of the day by lapierre!

Miller was nails from the 2nd period on. He made some key saves, he calmed down, and he stopped that breakaway from Sharp in the 2nd period. I don't know how anyone could blame him for any of the 3 goals because his defense left him high and dry all three times.

Senko was a beast. Even though Steen scored the winner, I thought he should have been the #1 star. Our 4th line was the best of the night. They continuously applied pressure in the offensive zone and were physical throughout. I don't know what it is but Porter and Cracknell come up here and impress each time, especially in the playoffs.

Gonna celebrate but time to turn the page. We won Game 1in OT last year but couldn't sustain the momentum for the rest of the series. I agree with Nyghtewynd, the team that finds it's legs fastest on Saturday wins.

I heard Miller talk about the Sharp breakaway last night after the game and it sounded like he knew he had it all along. He said something to the effect of, "He wasn't set up to go to the backhand, so I made sure I took the forehand away." I don't know anything about goaltending, maybe it was an easy read to make. But, the way he explained it was like he knew he had it before it happened. Very reassuring.

Holy crap! I think I ruptured my achilles tendon when I landed awkwardly from jumping 10 feet up off the couch after Steener scored. That's what we have to do, gents. We take the injuries so the boys don't. Redirect the ju-ju.

Great game by the Blues! Could be their greatest playoff win EVER!
As the old adage goes never overreact to any win or loss! Long way to go for both teams!

The biggest lesson we can take from this is hockey is truly the GREATEST game on earth!
