We had so many chances we didn't cash in early. And it seemed that immediately after that, they'd just come down and score a goal. Didn't happen every time, but we're just not trying. No heart, no jump, no effort. Colorado is right on us for the division lead. They need to snap out of it.

Apparently, he took a puck to the foot.

Cashing in, agree. Oshie gets a backhander in the slot on a (more or less) open net and misses it just wide.

Their guy (forget who) pivots around the pylon that is Barret Jackman, gets a good look in the slot, and buries it.

Not capitalizing on chances and paying when they get them. It'll cost us. Over and over and over. :?

Oh, and forget about the President's Trophy.

Colorado won last night, so they're now 2 points behind us.

This is just fantastic.

Yep, that's really concerning. We're still in good shape, but the pressure is clearly there now. Winning the division is so incredibly important. So much more important than the President's Trophy or 1 seed in the West.

I'll tell you what though, Minnesota has been on a friggen roll lately. I'd much rather draw Dallas or Phoenix at this point than Minnesota.

Regardless, the Blues need to win. Simple enough right?

If things continue like this, we will be facing the Hawks in the first round. Now that would SUCK!

The Avs hold the tiebreaker as well.

The good news is they play Vancouver, San Jose and Anaheim all on the road.

That said, losing the Central is now a very very real possibility.

The bad news is the Aves road winning percentage is the league's best at nearly 70%.

The Blues need to win at least 2 of the remaining three games to hold on to the central. And if we can't win a 3 game 'series' against the wild star wings, I don't see how we have a shot at beating the Hawks, home ice or no.

Maybe getting boo'd off the ice the last two home games will be the wake up call they need. I doubt it. I don't think the problem is that they aren't trying. I think their weaknesses have been exposed, particularly the lack of scoring depth.

If the Sharks and Ducks are smart, they'll realize that letting the Avs beat them will guarantee that either the Hawks or Blues are out in round 1.

The Wild and Stars are a back to back with travel. That means the second game against the Stars is an automatic loss.. The other two games are both on national TV... again, double insta-losses.

We're screwed.

I can only hope they're laying back just to stay as fresh as possible for the playoffs without getting rusty as hell by playing call-ups instead. Having given up hope for the Presidents Trophy, they just want to coast the rest of the way and then kick it up a notch come the real season with Tarasenko back and ready to go.

Or, more likely, they're actually playing like shit because they played over their heads much of this season and we're facing down a first round sweep.

This game sucked donkeys.
Their play is frustrating to say the least right now...but I won't be overly concerned unless they are still playing like this come playoff time.
Keep in mind they are resting guys too. Steen has taken a few games off to heal up before the playoffs. Same with Jackman.
The loss of Tarasenko is becoming more and more obvious that they really miss him. Hopefully he can return in the 2nd round...assuming we get there.

The Backes injury doesn't seem to be severe. He's on the trip...but won't play vs. Wild....he is a maybe vs. Dallas. Looks like they are just playing it cautions with him. If this were playoffs, he'd be playing. So that's good.

To be honest...a few games ago, I was looking forward to the playoffs and didn't care about the rest of the reg. season. I just wanted to skip the last half dozen games. Hopefully that is the case with the way the team is playing. They are all just looking ahead to the playoffs...hopefully.

I get tired of all of the talk about doom and gloom for the blues because of their play of late. This team has been sooo good and extremely consistent all season long with no major slumps. They were due for something like this. They just need to turn it around before the playoffs. And I would hope with the veterans on this club, with Hitch behind the bench, and with a team that should be very, very hungry for a cup...that can all only help.
