You can have a good laugh, but we are still only 2-8-2 versus the top four teams in the Pacific and we will have to get by at least one of them to advance through the Western Conference.

On another note, we have been sent home in the playoffs by LA, LA, VA, SJ, VA in the last ten years, winning only one series in the last decade (vs SJ in 11-12).

So laugh on, but clearly the way these teams are built is our kryptonite.

An alternative take on that is that we were awful for most of the last decade and would have lost playoff series against teams in the Central too most likely, but just happened to play the Pacific all of those times.

-Were our teams that got eliminated by the Pacific built the same as this year's team?
-Were all 5 of the Pacific teams to eliminate us built the same way?
-The 4 Pacific teams we have struggled against this year, are they built the same as those 5 teams?

This is just hugely overblown.

The going back 10 years, that's coincidence of course.

We were 0-3-0 vs. LA last year (4-1,6-4,4-2), but the regular season doesn't matter.

1-2-1 the year before... our only win was 1-0 in the shoot out, again, doesn't matter.

We were 3-5-1 versus the playoff teams from the pacific last year... and two of our wins were ot.

Interestingly enough, all three wins came with Allen in net (two against SJ and one against ANA).

Bottom line: The best predictor of future performance is recent past performance.
