What every stupid Blues fan says

Hey, everybody -

I am working on a piece for TheHockeyWriters.com and I need your help with it. I am thinking about compiling a list of what every common (not die hard) Blues fan might say and then comment on the preposterous-ness of it. This goes beyond the "SHOOT" while on the power play.

For example, I plan to use the "we need Ryan Miller" discussion that, yes, is still ongoing (if some of you are these people, my apologies -- but I don't agree).

I'm thinking about adding the love/hate for Chris Stewart as well.

Let me know what you think. I'll be glad to give credit to those that credit is due.

Thanks!

Two things: When people in Scottrade try to do the wave; this is not a baseball game, you don't do that at a hockey game.
The other is wearing Cardinals red to a Blues game. Nobody's cares about the Cardinals at the Blues game. I was at a Blackhawks-Blues game at Scottrade, and The Cardinals were playing in a playoff game. The Blackhawks(who wear red) were the opponents and there were "stupid" fans wearing red cardinals shirts. The  smilie doesn't do just for that.

I guess what I said was what the fans do instead of what they say, but it pisses me off still lol.

For me, the annoying thing some Blues fans is 'propose' a trade idea that is so completely lopsided in the Blues favor that no other team in their right mind would do. For instance, we'll use Ryan Miller, like you mentioned.

Blues fan trade proposal: Adam Cracknell, Ian Cole, and a 3rd rd pick for Ryan Miller.

Just because it's a 3 for 1 deal, doesn't mean it's a good one. Classic example of overrating players.

It annoys the hell out of me that many Blues fans (and perhaps St. Louisians in general) have extremely high opinions of their players whether they're doing good or not. When someone is playing like shit, call them out on it, don't offer endless buckets of moral support. That promotes mediocrity as acceptable.

Absolutely agree with the trading thing. And no offense but several of you on here do it all the time: "Oshie for Landeskog and a second rounder" I haven't actually heard that one on here but several of them are preposterous.

The bandwagon fans at the game.
Powerplay twering or whatever you want to call it.
And the people wearing Cardinals crap to game. I agree full heartedly that people should not be allowed to bring that shit into a HOCKEY GAME.

This isn't a recent thing, but when Pronger was here... you'd hear people yelling at him for everything he did. I can't tell you the number of times I heard some idiot yell, "Pronger, you suck!!" from the stands. #44 was the best defenseman we have ever had...and way too many fans, for whatever reason, thought he sucked.

Being angry about losing Brendan Shanahan to get Pronger probably had a lot to do with that. Of course a decent amount of what went wrong in Blues history in the 90's had Shanahan involved, to some degree which evidently they turned a blind eye to.

It seems like a roundtable would be an effective platform for this topic.

I get super annoyed when the playoffs come around and people who watch about 2 games a year come over and talk to me about hockey like they are some sort of expert. It's painful.

One thing I notice about certain fans is that they love to latch onto one player as a total bum and just talk smack about how so-and-so is worthless or overpaid or blah blah blah. The thing that makes it weird is that it is always so completely random.

I'm all for ragging on a guy who isn't pulling his weight, but you need to be able to properly back up your opinions. Very few can.

As has been noted already... fans very frequently over-rate players on the team.

And I always find trade proposals humorous. Even from more knowledgable fans. People have some crazy ideas. It's always like... "well, The Rangers need a D-man, what if we trade them Ian Cole for Ryan Callahan and a 2nd rounder? That sounds about right."
