I was about to post the same thing. I'm happy for the 12 die hards that keep their team, but I feel as if this will pop up again somewhere down the road and we'll all be endlessly annoyed again.

I find it funny, the Phoenix/Glendale area is home to 4 major sports teams and after this name change, only one of them (Suns) will be named after the city. All the other teams (Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Coyotes) will be named after the state.

Just for fun (channeling my inner Sheldon here), can you name the two pro sports teams that are named for NEITHER their city nor their state?

I'm trying to avoid Google to see if I can answer this.

Golden State Warriors and....I cannot think of the other one.

As a technicality, neither the Jets nor the Giants play in New York. However, they are both originally from here so I suppose that doesn't count. Golden State and New England are the obvious two though.
