Perhaps they trade down to get a defenseman instead of another young forward?

No way this pick is traded. Edmonton is going to take Yakupov. They'll find another way to get a good defenseman/goalie. Edmonton should try for Ryan Suter.

This has to be a record for most consecutive 1st overall picks in a row.
And yeah Suter would be a good fit for Edmonton at least money wise.

Wow, great promotion NHL. I had no idea this was going on until I woke up this morning and saw it crawl across the bottom of the screen that it had already happened.

I watched the draft in the background. I don't remember what the other team was, but they said this was the second time a team had three #1 picks in a row.

I would feel bad for Columbus if I didn't hate them so much.

I feel bad for their fans, but not the team. Screw the team.

I remember in 2006, I was so sure the Blues were going to lose the draft lotto and get screwed. I was shocked when they won. Shocked. I'm not used to good things happening to my team.

The ironic thing, of course, being that we took Erik Freaking Johnson... and probably would have been better off with either the #2 pick (Staal) or definitely better off with the #3 pick.... Toews.

I guess what I'm saying is that you just don't know.

From what I hear, Yakupov is supposed to be really good, but he's not a Crosby, Malkin or Ovechkin type.
