I say Blues in 5. Come out like a new team in the playoffs and take a 2-0 lead. Get mildly complacent in game 3, but take the wake up call loss and finish it out in 5.

The thing that makes me feel better is how pessamistic most sharks fans seem to be about this series.

If it would have been the Kings who won last night, I really think I would be picking against the Blues. The way that the Blues closed out the season vs. the potential of the Kings' playoff performance would have ended with me giving the Blues an unfavorable pick.

But that thought is all but gone. If we see the Kings in the playoffs, we'll have a playoff win under our belts.

So far I've heard of no one picking SJ over the Blues, or any other 7/8 seed over a 1/2. If any of them is an upset waiting to happen, I think it's Ottawa/NYR, and that's only if Ottawa gets world-class goaltending and the Rangers continue in their struggles.

What I want to happen and what I think will happen are two different things.

I say Sharks in 5. Just because of the horrible streak we had (of all the times to have a losing streak we have one RIGHT before the playoffs) and we can't score. If the Blues play anything like they played in Columbus or Dallas then we're fucked.

The Dallas game was luck. The Blues played with no energy. Russel's goal bounced funny, hit off the goalie's back, and went in. That came could have easily gone the other way, and Dallas would have won in a shootout.

Time to nut up, Blues. Mike Johnson (yes, former Blue Mike Johnson) said on NHL Network that the Sharks play a physical brand of hockey, same as the Blues, but the Blues do it better. Plus he gave the edge in goaltending to the Blues as well.

I'm inclined to agree. If the Blues match the level of play that they displayed for the bulk of 5 months, they win this series. If they match the level of play they've displayed the last 2 weeks, it'll be a short trip.

I think the Blues will come to play. The fans are going to be insane in Games 1 and 2. If the Blues can't turn that into the dominating play we saw from them this season, then they don't deserve to make it to the 2nd round.

Perennial playoff disappointments with a re-tooled roster that left them worse off than last year.

Have to believe the Blues can and should take care of business, playoff inexperience aside.
