It's not his fault his GM handed out insanely stupid contacts and put the team up against the cap that resulted in trading away half of their cup winning team.
However, it IS his fault that Jamal Mayers has been getting significant PP time.

On a related note, Coach Q's has suddenly has a for sale sign in the front yard.
Couldn't be happier, he's a good coach and they will be worse off if the do in fact give him the boot.

This is kinda weird timing with the fact that they could be tied for 4th in the conference after tonight.DaDitka wrote:On a related note, Coach Q's has suddenly has a for sale sign in the front yard.

That is kind of a knock on Keenan, so"You have to have coaches willing to adapt. Mike Keenan is terrific if you have an older team, but you don't expect him to be around for four years."

Yea if they make the playoffs in a respectable seed and at least are competing in the playoffs (especially if they win a round or two) then no way he gets fired.thedoc wrote:This is kinda weird timing with the fact that they could be tied for 4th in the conference after tonight.DaDitka wrote:On a related note, Coach Q's has suddenly has a for sale sign in the front yard.

Earlier in the year there was talk he'd get canned then too and the vast majority of my Hawks friends (both the n00bs and diehards) were totally against it and I have to agree with them. It's a sad state of affairs in a professional sport when the coach that brought you a championship is on the chopping block bubble only 2 years later
If the Blackhaws brass ARE discussing the possibility, that's just ridiculous.

Coaches are hired to be fired. Such is life as a major league coach.WaukeeBlues wrote:Yea if they make the playoffs in a respectable seed and at least are competing in the playoffs (especially if they win a round or two) then no way he gets fired.thedoc wrote:This is kinda weird timing with the fact that they could be tied for 4th in the conference after tonight.DaDitka wrote:On a related note, Coach Q's has suddenly has a for sale sign in the front yard.

Unless, of course, you are Barry Trotz.
He didn't win a playoff series until his 12th year as the Predators head coach.
12 years...wow. That's crazy.
In the 13 seasons Trotz has been head coach of the Preds:
- No division titles.
- Only 6 playoff wins (all came in his 12th year: 2010-2011)
He surely would have been fired after his 4th or 5th season anywhere else.
Over the last 13 years the Blues have had 5 head coaches (the 1st of which was Quenneville), and we've seen:
- 2 division titles (including this year)
- 1 President's Cup (maybe a 2nd this year)
- 27 playoff victories
You think it's been bad being a Blues fan over the last 7 years? Try being a Predators fan.
If they fail to advance past the first round this year, surely Trotz is gone, no? Can they ever fire him??

Re: Coach Q gets vote of confidence from Wirtz
You would think this is the season he would be granted amnesty. Firing him would be a tremendous risk. I would rather see the Blues knock Detroit out of the playoffs than see Nashville have that honor.cprice12 wrote:Coaches are hired to be fired.
