Devils Rangers line brawl to start game

So apparently the Devils put Cam Janssen and company as their starting lineup.

Tortorella was not amused...

well.. you said Tortorella was not amused. He was so "not amused" he participated by responding in kind. Seems more amusing to me than not amused. Were he not amused, he just throws out his #1 line and watches them score on them - which happened at the 1:11 mark of the first period when the goons were in the box.

What a crock of $hit.

What are they going to do: "Coaches, you can't start your 3rd or 4th liners, you have to start your scorers"?

And there were zero instigations during this incident, for the record. Everyone lined up and dropped them so I don't even know that a "no instigator" rule at the front end of the game would even change anything.

Why do they even allow fighting anymore? They are obviously little by little removing it from the game. Pretty soon there will only be a 30 second window between 9:45 and 10:15 of the 2nd period where players are allowed to fight without facing suspension.

What a joke.

Why is it so hard to understand that fighting has always been a part of hockey? Just like high sticking or hooking? :evil:

At the gym the other day, there was some ESPN show (I don't watch ESPN so I don't know what it is called) on one of the TVs where they were talking about this. All four commentators expressed their disgust and disappointment and stated this is the reason hockey is and always will be a niche sport. :roll:

The three fights to start isn't as surprising as Janssen getting beat down. He should have done better!

To quote Uncle Joey, the great part about hockey is that if you get hurt, the ice is right there.
