Right side, "Chance team will finish season at position"...and the Blues are at 80% to finish 1st overall.

Curt, you're real bad at this.

The next time you see some stats like that and get all excited and want to post it, dip the tip in some cold water and then think about it.

Most of us can remember winning the President's trophy. I've got my mind set on a piece of larger hardware this time around. It's been a long wait.

Just thought it was interesting...which it is.
Besides, posting a link doesn't jinx anything. The info is already out there. Me making you aware of it doesn't change a thing.

If we win this year, we could very well be the last team to win the Cup, and it will be ours forever! (lockout and 2012)

On that note, we are two days away from the start of the to-be most overused pick-up line ever. "Hey baby, its less than 9 months until the end of the world..."

Saying they are "favored" to win the cup is a bit of a stretch.

They are "favored" by whatever formula that site is using... which I'm guessing is based on the win percentage of all of the team projected to make the playoffs. Then taking those numbers and running them millions of times.

Not a very good indicator. I'm sure that every single year the team with the best record gets the best percentage according to that formula, but we all know that the President's Trophy winning team rarely* wins it all.

*EDIT... Actually, I just looked it up. Since the 85-86 season (the first season the Prez Trophy was awarded) the top team has won the cup 7 times out of 25.

If we play anything like we did the last go-round in the playoffs the odds changes to 0%.

On playoff inexperience alone I'd say the Blues are not "favored" to win it. Last time a team won the cup with next to zero playoff experience? You'll be digging in the archives a while.

Having said all that I believe the Blues have a 6.25% of winning the cup.

I think, statistically speaking, the Blues have a 50% chance to win it all. Also, a 50% chance to lose it all.

Come to think of it, every playoff team has the same odds.

Cue WU to give me a lesson on some statistical algorithms that purely ignores the fact that "you either will or you won't" always results in a 50/50 split.

Next to zero playoff experience?

How do you figure?

McDonald - 41 games
Arnott - 115 games
Langenbrunner - 137 games
Halak - 21 games
Huskins - 47 games
Sobotka - 19 games
Jackman - 12 games
Nichol - 40 games

I don't get the whole, "we don't have any playoff experience" comments. It's just not accurate.
And in net, the most important position in the playoffs, we have a guy who excelled in the playoffs and took a lesser Montreal team to the conference finals a couple years ago.

The sweep by Vancouver a few years ago should have been a learning experience/wake up call to those that were on that team. I'm sure they want a chance to redeem themselves.

I bet if you add up the total number of playoff games each player on this team has been in, it's probably more than good number of teams that have won cups in the past.

And playoff experience only goes so far, and doesn't guarantee anything. We made the playoffs for 25 straight years and a lot of guys got a lot of playoff experience here...but never won anything here.

In the playoffs, you've got to be very lucky at the right times to go all the way. I'd rather be lucky than good in the playoffs.

WOW....isn't that just sickening?

Think how great we were when Jacks came up, think how long he's been here, then think about the fact that he's only played in 12 playoff games......
