I love this quote by TJ:

""We know that we've got a ways to go and that we can't take nights off like we did before tonight ... the last four or five games," forward T. J. Oshie said. "That wasn't the way that we play and the way we can win. ... (This win) as a whole, we made a big jump as a team.""

Translation: Hitch let them know, clear as day, they were playing like a bunch of douchebags. The team was wise enough to get the message, they know they can't take nights off, or periods off or parts of periods off, and they understand what's next.

Someone remind me - do the playoffs start right away when the regular season ends, or is there a week off?.. I'm gonna try to go to as many games as possible, thinking about just booking my flights for spending the first week of the playoffs in STL since we'll likely have the first 2 games there and I have a free place to stay..

Thoughts?

Season ends on a Sunday, right? The playoffs usually begin on the Wednesday of that week, with some series roughly on a Wed-Fri-Sun (for NBC, so expect the Pens) schedule and others on the Thurs-Sat schedule.

So if my math is correct, our magic number is: 4

any combination of wins by STL and losses by Nash and Detroit (separately) that totals 4 clinches the central.

That's really encouraging and makes it look pretty good that we can get what we need to clinch home ice for at least the first two rounds.

The picture for the President's trophy is a great deal more difficult to sort out. We have to watch Van, Pitt, and NYR and the math is prolly going to come down to the last game or two.

Yep 4 games does it. I think it's easier to think of in points than wins/losses though because of OTL's.

Division:
8 points for Detroit
7 for Nashville
5 for Chicago

1 seed in West:
12 for Vancouver

President's Trophy:
14 for NYR
15 for Pit (Note that we can only earn 14 points by winning out, so they control their own destiny)
