I'll believe it when Checketts packs his bags. Didn't Hulsizer sign a purchase agreement too? Or, at least, wasn't it reported that he did?

Yes, but the league wouldn't approve his financing.
To my understanding all that is needed now is for the league to approve Stillman's financing. (at least that's what I head)

Re: Stillman signs purchase agreement
That's my understanding too. Stillman has been waiting in the wings for the longest time, he should at least have his financing together. From one of JR's chats a few weeks ago, this could have been done a lot earlier, but Stillman's original offer was a lowball offer to Checketts, and that made ol' Davey mad. Alas, Hulsizer entered the mix and then it stalled out. Now, the NHL and Checketts' bank is getting impatient and something needs to be done. As long as Stillman has his ish in order, this thing should hopefully be over soon. But we've all thought that about 15 times before.DaDitka wrote:cardsfan04 wrote:I'll believe it when Checketts packs his bags. Didn't Hulsizer sign a purchase agreement too? Re: Stillman signs purchase agreement
Any idea what might happen to the payroll when Stillman takes over?
For example, let's say there was a deal in place for a top-line scorer that makes sense except it will increase our payroll some. Do we expect him to be able to do that? Or are we going to be stuck at the cap floor still?

Re: Stillman signs purchase agreement
Stillman was actually part of Checketts' ownership group but owned a small stake. When Dave first put the team up for sale, Stillman low-balled him with a $110 mil price tag and made ol' Davey angry. I know originally Stillman's proposed group had Bill DeWitt as an investor but I'm not sure that's the case at this point. That's all I've got for ya.AlsWoodenStick wrote:I've gotten all these potential buyers mixed up. What's this guy like $ and hockey-wise? If I missed a thread here feel free to link it.

After last night, could you jinx Halak every night? And for good measure, jinx the offense too, because these 1-0 games WILL give me a heart attack.cprice12 wrote:Yeah, like how my praising of Halak jinxed him last night?thedoc wrote:Well good job for F ing it up for us now. Re: Stillman signs purchase agreement
Cool, I remember him now, thanks a lot guys. I hope Hull gets involved, I don't care what team it's for but I absolutely love it when old players invest back in their organization. Most of all, I hope this fiasco ends and we find an owner that it committed to winning and maybe one that can see us closer to the cap limit too *cough 8.9 million cough*cprice12 wrote:Hull has also expressed interest in joining this group.dmiles2186 wrote:Stillman was actually part of Checketts' ownership group but owned a small stake. I don't really like the idea of ownership groups but what can you do? Yet another ownership group is better than the current situation.

I look at this one different. It's not a group of invested looking to turn a profit (per say) It's a group of prominent local businessman trying to keep the local hockey team local in in good financial status.
These guys view it as investing in the community, not necessarily investing to make a lot of profit.
Generally I am 100% against 'groups'.....I just see this one differently.

Re: Stillman signs purchase agreement
I agree with you 100%. 1. I don't know why we are always so paranoid about them moving the team anyway. You don't move a team that is 6th in attendance numbers in a league that struggles to draw crowds in certain markets anyway. 2. Local guys aren't going to drive to watch "their" team. It will be their toy and they will want to play with it.DaDitka wrote:glen a richter wrote:I don't really like the idea of ownership groups but what can you do?
